RULES AND REGULATIONS Availability of animals may change throughout the course of the hunting season. We reserve the right to change prices prior to deposits being received. This pricelist excludes 14% VAT The rules and regulations are there to protect both the hunter and Highland Safaris and will make sure that there is no misunderstanding and both parties will have a mutually satisfying experience. No hunting will be allowed if the indemnity forms are not completed and signed. A list of species available for hunt and their pricing is attached and need to be read and understood. All hunters will sight their rifles on the range at 100m before any hunting commences. Highland Safaris retains the right to stop a hunter from hunting until the desired grouping have been attained. No hunting from, or within 200m of any vehicle. No hunting within 500m from the homestead. Minimum calibre for hunting.270. A maximum of 3 consecutive miss-shots will be allowed per hunter. After that the hunter will check his rifle at the shooting range, and will only continue hunting if the owner/management is convinced that the rifle is correctly sighted in, and the hunter is able to handle the rifle We cater for the South African biltong hunter market. If you want to shoot a specific trophy animal, the trophy prices are also on the price list. The skinning of an animal for trophy purposes is an optional extra, as per the price list. SKINNING OF GAME COLD STORAGE MEAT PROCESSING: Included in the price of the game hunted is basic skinning and dressing of the carcass, as well as cold storage of the carcass in our cold storage room. If you want your trophies to be caped for Taxidermist purposes, please inform us thereof before the skinning process is started. Make sure that the skinner knows what type of trophy you want. Will it be a flat skin, shoulder mount or full mount? Normally animals are located using the hunting vehicle, and then are hunted by the walk and stalk method. There will be some species that we do not want to hunt and thus their pricing will be absent on the price list. Only animals with pricing attached are available for. Hunters will at all times be accompanied by a professional hunter while out on a walk-and stalk hunt, this is not negotiable! The professional hunter is there to make sure all rules are followed and for the safety of the hunter. Trophy animals are not only referred as trophy thru Roland Ward, but also thru potential and a good representative of a specie.
Any blood, hair or body fluids found on the flight path of the animal will be seen as a hit and the full price for the animal will be payable if the animal is retrieved or not. We endeavour to do everything in our ability to retrieve all animals shot but the risk stays with the hunter if the shot animal gets retrieved or not. No alcohol consumption will be allowed during a hunt. The use of alcohol is limited to times after the hunt and Highland Safaris retains the right to cancel a hunting session for a hunter if we feel that the hunter is intoxicated. Final shots will be 1 hour before dark, this is to ensure that we have adequate time for the animal to expire as well as for following of the trail and the recovery of the animal. The exact times will vary upon season and will be communicated to the hunter before they set out to hunt. If you have any problems, please take it up with the Professional hunter. He will sort out the problem in short order. Please refrain from entering into an argument with any staff, company representative or PH. You are welcome to give the staff or PH a gratuity, but no alcoholic beverages are to be given to any staff members. No firewood is to be collected from the Reserve. We will provide adequate firewood for the duration of your hunt. Please do not litter, this includes paper, bottles, plastic bags, orange peels, cigarette butts etc. You are welcome to make use of our facilities to work your carcasses, please bring your own knives, spices, packaging etc. Please take note that the use of any abattoir equipment is done at own risk and Highland Safaris will not be liable for any damage or injury when working the equipment. Highland Safaris staff is there to assist in skinning and slaughtering of the hunted animal but assistance of the hunter will also be required. Unfortunately, we are not qualified butchers and therefore we do not do any meat processing on behalf of hunters. If you need us to help you with meat processing done by yourself, please make arrangements in advance. The management reserves the right to recoup costs involved with the request by the hunter with his / her meat processing. The cost will be determined by the type of processing that was done, the number of staff involved as well as time spent. The hunter therefore takes FULL responsibility for the processing, preserving and handling of any meat on our premises, with or without the help of our staff. No driving around on the farm in any private vehicle is allowed, at any time of the night or day due to security reasons.
