AUDITIONS: Monday May 11th, 2015 LOCATION: SWAY DANCE CENTER TIME: 5:00pm-9:00pm The following performance groups will be placed by audition on Monday, May 11th, 2015 from 5:00-9:00pm at Sway Dance Center. The panel of judges will be professional dancers, choreographers, instructors, and/or directors. The audition is open to Sway Dance Center Dancers ages 10+. Dancers must be age 10 at the time of the audition May 11th. THIS IS A CLOSED AUDITION, ONLY SWAY DANCERS MAY ATTEND; NO PUBLIC OR PARENT VIEWING. Please read carefully all of the skill, class, performance and cost requirements and sit down with your family before making the decision to audition. Be realistic to your dancer s time commitment and know that we look forward to you/your dancer continuing training with us here at Sway Dance Center whether this opportunity is an option for your family or not. Also, all performing group dancers & moms are required to help backstage with next year s Starlight Show MAY 21ST, 2015. The judges will be placing 4 performance groups, and judges will decide the order in which the groups will be placed at the beginning of the audition: TEEN COMPANY - a Jazz/Contemporary/Ballet performance group. TEEN COMPANY SKILL REQUIREMENTS: -Working on Triple pirouette turns -Inside and outside pirouette turns, from multiple approaches -Students have mastered jete, grande jete, tuck jumps, turning tuck jumps, axles, leaps in second position, switch leaps, tilt jumps, calypsos, calypsos to the floor -Students have mastered pivot turns, weight changes, direction changes -Students have mastered level changes in choreography and progressions -Student have been introduced to advanced floor work -Students at this level understand corrections and are able to apply corrections when given. -Multiple turn sequences, pirouettes, coupe turns, single/double back attitude turns -Strength in lines, strength in dancers center and extension and flexibility -Students have begun to master turns a la second, and fouete turns -Transitions through lines, style and quality of movement -Stamina, endurance and strength training -Choreography retention is extremely important and one of the many reasons a professional level audition is imperative.

2015-2016 Sway Dance Center Performance/Competition Groups -Required: Ballet Class 2x s/week -Performance and stage presence will also be a high quality sought after by the judges panel. -Dancers must be familiar will basic barre work, applying proper form and showing the ability to make corrections if given during the audition. -Dancers can master adagio exercises, allegro, and grand allegro with multiple jumps and jump sequences. -Dancers are working on Level I/II/III/IV Ballet requirements like tour jetes, ballotes and sissones, double/ triple pirouettes from fifth and fourth, beginning to learn fouete turns on pointe and developing extension. -The ability to transition from fluid graceful movement to sharp quick movements through choreography and retain weekly choreography and stylistic choices from the choreographer/teacher. -Barre Class is required to develop skills with timing, flexibility and coordination all while incorporating proper technique. TEEN COMPANY WEEKLY REQUIREMENTS: -Teen Company Members attendance to TEEN COMPANY class is mandatory every week. -Teen Company Members are required to take 2 Ballet and/or Ballet Barre at Sway Dance Center and one Jazz class in addition to Teen Company class. -Teen Company Dancers dress code for Teen Company class: TEEN COMPANY LEO (Provided by Sway Dance Center and purchased by dancer/family), Dancer s own Black leggings/dance bottoms, Tan jazz shoes and Tan paws, pink ballet slippers and possibly Pointe shoes -IF YOUR DANCER CANNOT MAKE IT TO REQUIRED CLASSES EACH WEEK, PLEASE WAIT TO AUDITION UNTIL YOUR DANCER S SCHEDULE ALLOWS TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS. Next year s class schedule including Teen Company class time will be posted on our registration page online by May 4th. TEEN COMPANY COSTS: TEEN COMPANY CLASS RATE: 50.00/month TEEN COMPANY REQUIRED CLASS LEOTARD: 50.00/student due JUNE 1st. TEEN COMPANY SHOES: Teen Company members will be required to purchase several different styles of jazz shoes and both soft ballet shoes and possibly pointe shoes, all TBD. TEEN COMPANY CLASS COSTUME FEE: Teen Company will have 2 costumes. Each of these costumes will be 85.00 due JUNE 1st. Each dancer will also be required to purchase performance jewelry (earrings and chokers) from Sway Dance Center for 35.00 due JUNE 1st. TEEN COMPANY WARM-UPS: Each Teen Company member will be required to purchase a new team warm-up suit for 85.00 due JUNE 1st. These warm-ups are worn as cover ups and to prevent injuries before performances by keeping your dancer s warm and in uniform. Warm-ups will be worn to all events and will have your dancers name embroidered on the jacket. OBLIGATIONS FOR TEEN COMPANY AND ALL GROUPS:

CREW - a hip hop performance group. CREW SKILL REQUIREMENTS: -CREW members must have a exceptional ear for timing and musicality. Because hip hop is a rhythm based dance genre the skill set more so lies in creativity of movement and performance capability. -CREW members need to be able to isolate body movements, be familiar with their center and move quickly. -Level changes, floor work, and basic break dancing movements like the Worm, handstands and popping are several advanced concepts that will be taught and mastered if selected to be a CREW member. -Choreography retention is extremely important -Performance and stage presence will also be a high quality sought after by the judges panel. CREW WEEKLY REQUIREMENTS: -CREW members attendance to CREW class is mandatory every week. -CREW is required to take one additional Hip hop class -CREW class dress code is as follows: Tennis shoes, black sweat pants or black leggings, t-shirts or tanks. NO shorts. Additional team shoes will be purchased for performances. -IF YOUR DANCER CANNOT MAKE IT TO REQUIRED CLASSES EACH WEEK, PLEASE WAIT TO AUDITION UNTIL YOUR DANCER S SCHEDULE ALLOWS TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS. Next year s class schedule including Crew class time will be posted on our registration page online by May 4th. CREW COSTS (please also see additional financial obligations at the bottom of this document): CREW CLASS RATE: 50.00/month CREW SHOES: 50.00 members will be required to purchase a hip-hop shoe CREW COSTUME FEE: Crew will have 2 costumes. 2015-2016 Sway Dance Center Performance/Competition Groups Tap Troupe - a tap performance group. TAP TROUPE SKILL REQUIREMENTS: -TAP TOUPE Dancers should have mastered all Level I/II skills such as single/double/triple time step, adding in single and double beats after demonstration by teacher. Pullbacks, Drawbacks, Cincinnatis, toe-stands, buffalo, double measures of all basic tap steps and working on if not mastered; wings. Pickups will be added to single and double steps. -TAP TROUPE Dancers will see an increase in the speed of choreography and must pick up quickly -The concept of Syncopation and untraditional rhythms will be incorporated -TAP TROUPE will be working on precision and timing daily in class -Clear sounds and precision along with stage presence and performance will be a high quality sought after by the judges panel. TAP TROUPE WEEKLY REQUIREMENTS: -TAP TROUPE members attendance to TAP TROUPE class is mandatory every week. -TAP TROUPE members are required to take one additional Tap class each week for technique. -TAP TROUPE class dress code: TAP TROUPE LEO (to be purchased by dancer/family), Black leggings/ dance bottoms, Tan Tap shoes. -IF YOUR DANCER CANNOT MAKE IT TO REQUIRED CLASSES EACH WEEK, PLEASE WAIT TO AUDITION UNTIL YOUR DANCER S SCHEDULE ALLOWS TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS. Company is a Ballet/Jazz/Contemporary/Tap/HipHop based group COMPANY SKILL REQUIREMENTS: -Mastered Quadruple pirouette turns -Inside and outside pirouette turns, from multiple approaches -Students have mastered jete, grande jete, tuck jumps, turning tuck jumps, axles, leaps in second position, switch leaps, tilt jumps, calypsos, calypsos to the floor, turning second leaps, turning switch leaps, Turning C-jumps. -Students have mastered pivot turns, weight changes, direction changes -Students have mastered level changes in choreography and progressions -Student have mastered advanced floor work -Students at this level understand corrections and are able to apply corrections immediately when given. -Multiple turn sequences, pirouettes, coupe turns, single/double back attitude turns -Strength in lines, strength in dancers center and extension and flexibility -Students have begun to master turns a la second, and fouete turns -Transitions through lines, style and quality of movement -Stamina, endurance and strength training -Choreography retention is extremely important and one of the many reasons a professional level audition is imperative. -Required: Ballet Class 2x s/week, Jazz once per week, assistant teaching 1-2 times per week -Performance and stage presence will be a necessity sought after by the judges panel. -Dancers must have mastered basic barre work, applying proper form and showing the ability to make corrections if given during the audition.

Next year s class schedule including Company class time will be posted on our registration page online by May 4th. -Company Dancer s dress code for class: COMPANY leo or dance top and Leggings (provided by Sway Dance Center and purchased by dancer/family), Tan jazz shoes and Tan paws, pink ballet slippers and Pointe shoes, Tap shoes & Hip-Hop shoes (varying styles TBD to be purchased by dancer/family) COMPANY COSTS (please also see additional financial obligations at the bottom of this document): COMPANY CLASS PACKAGE: 250.00/month, includes Company class tuition, Ballet Barre IV, Ballet IV, and Jazz IV class tuitions. COMPANY REQUIRED CLASS LEOTARD: 45.00/student due JUNE 1st. COMPANY SHOES: Company members will be required to purchase several different styles of jazz, tap, and hip-hop shoes and both soft ballet shoes and pointe shoes, all styles/colors TBD. COMPANY CLASS COSTUME FEE: Company will have 4 costumes totaling 350.00 due JUNE 1st. Each dancer will also be required to purchase performance jewelry (earrings and chokers) from Sway Dance Center for 35.00 due JUNE 1st. COMPANY WARM-UPS: Each Company member will be required to purchase a new team warm-up suit for 85.00 due JUNE 1st. These warm-ups are worn as cover ups and to prevent injuries before performances by keeping your dancer s warm and in uniform. OTHER COMPANY REQUIREMENTS: -Company Members and Company Member Parents are required to sign a Company Contract adhering to all Sway Dance Center Company Requirements & Policies ranging from weekly classes to personal behavior and dancer character while representing Sway Dance Center. Company Members and a parent are required to sit down with Sway Dance Center Company Directors to go over the contract together. Company will be required to meet several times over the summer months for conditioning, stretch and technique classes, schedule TBD at Company Contract meeting. OBLIGATIONS FOR COMPANY AND ALL GROUPS:
