Freshman: In order to participate on the Newton South High School Soccer Team, you must conduct yourself in a responsible fashion at all times. You must abide by the policies and conditions described in the Newton South Student Athlete Handbook, as well as team rules and decisions made by the coaching staff, athletic director and administrators. These are baseline expectation, for some more will be expected, and everyone is expected to push themselves beyond these guidelines: Specifically, you must agree to: Work as hard in the classroom and on the field Communicate proactively with teachers Maintain a minimum B Average Bring a Positive Attitude Give your teammates constructive criticism Complement and Encourage your teammates Willingly follow instructions Be in shape Come into season fit (run in the off season) 7 minute mile Come into the season strong (go to the gym in the off season) 20 push ups per minute 25 sit ups per minute Support your teammates Encourage them Hold them accountable Assume good intentions Come prepared for practice and games Ball, Cleats, Shin Guards, etc Ready to go when practice starts Appropriate attire Positive Mindset Mentally prepared at all times Communicate with Captains and Coach If missing practice, game or team function email coach and captains Try to Attend all Team Functions Team dinners Offseason Training Sessions Any team event deemed important by captains or coach Exert maximum effort is Running through the lines Come off the field tired Refrain from the use of cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, and any other illicit substance or activities
