Admission for School Groups Field Trip Information School groups are welcome to visit the Fair on special dates for a discounted school group rate. The 2018 Utah State Fair field trip dates are Thursday, September 6th, Friday, September 7th or Monday, September 10th through Friday, September 14th. School group admission will not be offered on any other date than those listed above. If your group has a ratio of one (1) teacher or chaperone to three (3) students or more, admission will be $1.00 for students and teachers/chaperones (chaperones must pay with the group to qualify for the $1.00 rate). Additional teachers/chaperones must pay regular gate admission. Admission will be waived for students unable to pay the $1.00 admission charge. School groups must pay with cash, one school check, money order or credit card in one transaction (no personal checks will be accepted). Gates open for field trip groups at 9:00 am. All school field trip groups must arrive between 9:00 am to 1:00 pm to be eligible for the field trip group admission. All field trip groups must be at the gates and paid before 1:00 pm. Once on the grounds, groups can stay as long as they would like. Please note that all vendors, shopping and the carnival will be closed until the posted Fair hours. Want to plan your day at the Fair? Read and Win at the Utah State Fair Open to children 6-12 years old. Winning is easy! Every child that returns a completed form on or before the Friday, July 27, 2018 deadline is a winner! Winning is very simple: Open to children who are between the ages of 6-12 as of September 16, 2018. Only one entry per child. Children read ten books of any length and fill out the reading record form. Reading is verified and initialed by a teacher, parent, guardian or librarian. Children must mail their completed forms to the Fair. Entries must be postmarked on or before July 27, 2018. No late entries will be accepted. Incomplete entries will not be accepted and form must be completed in full. All children who return their completed form will receive: Gate entry pass to the 2018 Utah State Fair which can be used any one day of the Utah State Fair (September 6-16). Ribbon bookmark from the International Association of Fairs & Expositions. Coupon for a free drink, redeemable at the State Fair Store. Student Competition The school with the most entries wins $100! Attendance Requirements: Students must attend the Fair to obtain information for the Essay Competition. Students do not need to attend the Fair to enter the Blue Ribbon Competition. Eligibility: Competitions are open to all students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Students may enter with their class or individually. Entry Form: Entry form must be affixed to the back not front of entries and all information requested must be typed or legibly printed on the back of entries. Entries without all information on the back will be disqualified. An entry form and blue ribbon form are attached and may be copied as needed. Deadline: Entries must be postmarked or hand delivered on or before 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1st, 2018. No late entries will be accepted. No exceptions can be made! Notification of Winners: Winners will be notified by mail at their home address. Teachers with student winners will be notified at the school address with the names of winners. Student Awards: Winners will receive an award certificate and ribbon from the Utah State Fair plus door prizes awarded by our sponsors. Awards will go to first through third place and two honorable mentions in each grade for each competition. School Award: The school with the most cumulative entries wins $100 to be used for its school library. Winning schools principal will be notified. Award Ceremony: Awards will be presented at the annual Student Competition Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 at the Utah State Fairpark. Awards will be mailed to winners not present.

Student Competition Rules Please read carefully and follow all rules. Essay Competition: (Students must attend the 2018 Utah State Fair to compete in this contest) Kindergarten Third Grades: On a standard white sheet of paper, draw and color a picture of your fun learning experience at the Fair. Remember to use only one experience. On the front of your picture, write (or have an adult write) one sentence explaining why this was a fun learning experience. Pictures without text will be disqualified. Fourth Sixth Grades: Write an essay (no longer than one page in length, one sided) about your favorite experience at the Fair and why. Try to focus on one particular experience. Entries will be judged on grade level, students ability to focus on one experience and the details of why they chose the experience. Blue Ribbon Contest: (Fair attendance is not required for this contest) Kindergarten Third Grades: Imagine you have won a blue ribbon. Draw and color a picture of what you did to win it. Arrange a 10" or smaller basket using a mixture of fruit, vegetables, herbs, wheat or other grains, legumes or other seeds. Create Mr. or Mrs. Potato Head using a real potato and decorate it with items of your choice. Decorate an 8 or smaller pumpkin. Little Hands on the Farm Little Hands on the Farm will return to the 2018 Utah State Fair. Exhibit Hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Little Hands on the Farm is for children ages 2 to 10.

Utah State Fair Circus The Utah State Fair Big Top Spectacular returns again for the 2018 Utah State Fair. Be dazzled by world renowned clowns, aerial artists, jugglers and balance acts. Circus entrance is included with Fair gate admission but seats are limited. Three shows daily visit website for show times.
