Jockey McMahon indicated that he had been instructed not to overly pressure the horse in the early stages as it may overrace due to wearing blinkers for the first time and he was satisfied that whilst the horse was not travelling strongly it was comfortable in the position in the second half of the field. He did not feel allowing Havana Cigar to assume this position had a bearing on the horse's finishing position and he was of the view that his mount only finished the race off fairly.
