ROSEHILL GARDENS Saturday 27 August 2016 Race 1: #Theraces Handicap 2000m Firebird Flyer trainer Mr C Waller advised that the mare had now been sent for a short spell. Race 3: St Mary's RSL Handicap 1400m Cocoexcel trainer Mr C Waller advised that the filly had pulled up well, however confirmed it is now the intention to bring it back in distance for its next race start. Race 8: Premier's Cup (Listed) 1900m Ruling Dynasty trainer Mr J Cummings advised that the gelding had pulled up satisfactorily and a veterinary examination by the stable veterinarian subsequent to the race revealed no abnormalities. The Stewards confirmed that Ruling Dynasty will be required to undergo a satisfactory barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again. Race 9: TAB Rewards Handicap 1350m Can I Have laid in over the final 300m, obliging the rider to change his whip over to his right hand passing the 200m. Cannyescent trainer Ms G Englebrecht reported the gelding had pulled up with muscle soreness following the race for which it had been treated. She added it was the intention to continue on with the gelding's preparation. Ms Englebrecht was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Cannyescent being permitted to race again. RACE 1: Myboycharlie @ Vinery Handicap 2700m Pyramid Prince after being loaded the gelding became fractious, reared, struck its head and sat down behind. Pyramid Prince was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 1.47pm. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Pyramid Prince be refunded in
2 full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 1.47pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1st) Chaquinta less 12ȼ win and 11ȼ place 2nd) I'm Trouble less 17ȼ place Trainer Mr G Hickman was advised a warning would be placed against the barrier manners of Pyramid Prince. Paragon when questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, App. D Panya explained in the early stages her mount travelled satisfactorily, however after the tempo quickened after the 1500m, Paragon from that point was one-paced and passing the 700m came under pressure, and did not respond to her riding and was a beaten horse soon after. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Sargent reported Paragon will now be spelled. RACE 2: TAB More Than Just Winning Handicap 1100m Tivoli Street began awkwardly after being fractious in the barriers and then a short distance later was hampered by Like A Shot, which shifted out after being slow to begin. Taken back in the early stages. Classic Wind slow to begin. Raced greenly in the middle stages. Every Chance began awkwardly and made contact with the inside portion of its barrier. Storm Force slow to begin. Eight Over rider B Avdulla explained he had been instructed by the trainer that from its wide barrier to settle the colt, which was having its first race start today, back in the field. He said his mount travelled well throughout the early and middle stages and rounding the home turn he commenced to shift to the outside of Tivoli Street to obtain clear running. B Avdulla added that Eight Over was inclined to race greenly at this point, however once properly balanced the colt finished off the race reasonably. Like A Shot near the 700m brushed with Tivoli Street, resulting in Like A Shot becoming briefly unbalanced. Made the home turn awkwardly and raced greenly in the straight. Aquatic when questioned, R Hutchings stated his mount enjoyed a nice run in the race and travelled just off the speed. He added when placed under pressure the gelding failed to respond and commenced to give ground quickly. A post-race veterinary examination the gelding was displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Mr C Duckworth, representing trainer Mr C Waller, was advised that before Aquatic is permitted to race again a veterinary clearance must be provided, including the results of an ECG, prior to the gelding performing satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. RACE 3: Schweppes Handicap 1100m Mackellar's Love began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages three wide without cover. Long Time Ago the filly, which was slow to begin, was crowded on jumping between Snow Surrender and Sparkle, both of which shifted ground.
3 In Times Of War just prior to the winning post bumped with Mist Opportunity due to both horses shifting ground. Snip Missile rider B Shinn explained that the filly at its most recent start was aggressively ridden in the early stages and consequently did not finish its race off. He said today he was instructed to ride the filly where it was comfortable. He added Snip Missile began satisfactorily and in accordance with his instructions he did not ride his mount along in the early stages and when it was apparent that the rider of Snow Surrender, which was racing to his outside, was intent on crossing him, he allowed that runner to take up a position in front of him. B Shinn further stated that approaching the 700m Snip Missile settled nicely and, after shifting to the outside of Snow Surrender in the early part of the straight, closed off well. Cotrainer Mr Paul Snowden confirmed the instructions issued to B Shinn, however he was reminded of his obligations to notify the Stewards of any change in riding tactics. Snow Surrender a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 4: tab.com.au Handicap 1200m Fantasize - prior to the declaration of correct weight the Stewards viewed the official videos to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge an objection on behalf of the connections of Fantasize (4 th placegetter) against Maternal (3rd placegetter). The Stewards were of the view that, although Maternal shifted out and made contact with Fantasize near the 200m and again near the 50m causing that runner to be inconvenienced on both occasions, there were not sufficient grounds in which to proceed with a formal objection. Aurora Star's slow to begin and then crowded between Clevedon Bay and Sezanne. Maternal began awkwardly. Clevedon Bay slow to muster speed in the early stages. Nassak - when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, G Schofield stated the mare found the lead easily and was able to travel at even sections, however commenced to tire quickly passing the 200m and was most disappointing in the manner in which it compounded over the latter stages. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Cummings could offer no tangible excuse of the mare's performance today other than in his opinion it may not have handled today's track conditions. He undertook to report to the Stewards on the progress of Nassak in the days subsequent. RACE 5: #Theraces Handicap 1550m Steamin' slow to begin. Near the 800m improved onto the heels of Sniper and was steadied. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying the thumps. Rules Girl began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground (2L). One Touch - raced keenly in the middle stages.
4 Pianissimo shifted out under pressure in the straight. Sniper A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had abrasions to all four bumpers and had aggravated a speedy cut to the off hind pastern. Aurora Glow when questioned, rider H Bowman explained that he had been instructed to lead in the race today if possible as there was a lack of perceived tempo in the event. He said that after his mount was slow to begin in the early stages, he followed One Touch and he hoped that that runner, which was ridden along at the start, would continue to go forward, cross to the lead and ultimately provide him with a position outside One Touch. He said, however when that rider elected to remain racing to the outside of the eventual winner Pianissimo he was caught three deep without cover. He added after the 1000m, although Dragon Flyer, which was positioned to his outside, commenced to go forward and cross to the lead, he felt given the circumstances he would have to make too much use of Aurora Glow to go with that runner and therefore elected to steady and race in a three wide position, albeit without cover. H Bowman further stated that his mount travelled comfortably in this position and finished the race off fairly, although was not entirely comfortable on the soft track conditions. Rider H Bowman pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out approaching the winning post. H Bowman was fined $300 for this breach. RACE 6: McGrath Estate Agents Handicap 1200m Strindberg slow to begin. Rounding the first turn when the tempo steadied commenced to overrace. Leaving the 400m was steadied when disappointed for a run between Mana and Zin Zan Elsie. From on straightening until the 100m Strindberg was held up. Top Me Up slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which raced disappointingly, did not reveal any abnormalities. Mana slow to begin. When the tempo steadied rounding the first turn was steadied away from the heels of Radical Impact. Strindberg, which was following, was checked. Approaching the 700m Mana and Zin Zan Elsie raced tight to the inside of Fabrizio (App. K Jennings), which shifted in when not properly clear. App. Jennings was advised to exercise more care in future. Torpenhow slow to begin. Zin Zan Elsie knuckled over at the start. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, App. N Heywood explained that his mount travelled nicely in the run one out one back. He said when he shifted out to improve race in a three wide rounding the home turn he immediately placed the mare under pressure, but his mount failed to respond and was only one-paced over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying a poor post-race recovery. Rockafella after the 800m was left racing wide without cover. Choice We Had over the final 200m shifted out under pressure, obliging its rider to change the whip over into his left hand.
5 RACE 7: TAB Rewards Handicap 1100m Quantrill began awkwardly, resulting in its rider (T Angland) becoming unbalanced. Typecast began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider J McDonald stated his mount was never entirely comfortable on today's surface. He said that after taking up a midfield position on the fence, Typecast was under heavy pressure prior to the home turn and commenced to give ground soon after. He added that over the last 200m Typecast weakened noticeably and tailed out. Co-trainer Mr Paul Snowden was of a similar view that, whilst the mare had been successful previously when first up, it was not suited by today's track conditions and he believed that was the principal reason for the poor showing. In all the circumstances the Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory and ruled Typecast must trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed speedy cuts to both hindlegs. Sweet Serendipity began awkwardly, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced and then shortly after the start was awkwardly placed on the heels of Volante. Trainer Mr J Coyle was fined $200 for presenting the gelding in the enclosure with synthetic hoof filler and concussion plates, which were not part of the gelding's approved gear (AR140B). I'm Not Sure slow to begin. Sugar Bay Leonard App. D Panya (Volante) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR137(a)) in that near the 700m she permitted her mount to shift in when not clear of Super Maxi, which was crowded in across the running of Sugar Bay Leonard, which was steadied and lost its running. App. Panya's permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Thursday, 8 September 2016 and to expire on 15 September 2015, on which day she may ride. Whilst it did not affect his finishing position, B Avdulla was advised to ensure he rides his mounts out at least hands and heels right to the finish wherever possible. B Avdulla stated that Sugar Bay Leonard was at no stage suited by the track conditions. Race 6: Zin Zan Elsie, Rockafella, Radical Impact. Race 7: Quantrill, Sweet Serendipity, Volante, Typecast.
