Sr. DH Myerstown, Md. Kalamets continues his surge since returning from injury as he hit.632 with a team-high 12 hits to lead the Macs to a 5-1 week. He had five runs scored, seven RBIs, two doubles, a home run, and an on-base percentage of.692. He had hit safely in all six games and had at least two hits in five of the games. CSAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK RYAN BLOUGH Immaculata Univ Jr. Harleysville, Pa. Blough picked up a pair of CSAC wins this week as he went 11 innings allowing just seven hits and striking out eight while holding opponents to a.184 batting average in wins over Cairn and Neumann. Against Cairn, he went five innings and allowed one hit and no earned runs while striking out six, and followed that with five solid innings against Neumann allowing three runs. CSAC HONOR ROLL TIM MAXWELL, Centenary Jr. IF/P Maxwell hit. 533 (8-for-15) with nine RBI's, three runs scored and a double as the Cyclones went 2-2 this past week NICK MULVEY, Gwynedd Mercy So. 3B Mulvey batted.500 on the week, including a home run against Centenary and a three-run home run in a win over Cabrini. TROY TERZI, Keystone Jr. P Terzi improved to 6-0 on the season on Friday at Cairn by striking out 10 batters in seven scoreless innings in a game the Giants would go on to win 11-4. JARED GORMAN, Gwynedd Mercy Fr. P Gorman worked six scoreless innings, scattering four hits, to pick up the win over Centenary to start the week.
AROUND THE CSAC CABRINI UNIVERSITY CAVALIERS (9-16, 3-12 CSAC) The Cavaliers went 0-4 this past week as they dropped a game against Neumann University by an 18-1 final and were swept against Gwynedd Mercy University (6-2, 7-2, 10-9). The 0-4 week drops the Blue and White to 9-16 overall and 3-12 in the CSAC. The Cavaliers will look to turn things around as they head to Abington, Pa., on Tuesday for a matchup with Penn State- Abington. CAIRN UNIVERSITY HIGHLANDERS (13-15, 3-12 CSAC) The Cairn Highlanders had a tough week as they faced the top two teams in the conference for a total of five games against Immaculata and Keystone. The Highlanders dropped five games, losing both ends of a doubleheader to Immaculata 10-5 and 10-2. Keystone was up next and the Giants brought the bats scoring double-digit runs in each of the three games. Cairn was swept in the series by scores of 11-4, 16-4, and 10-3. Nate Wilson had the best game on the week for Cairn, he went 3-5 with a triple against Keystone in the first game of the series. This week Cairn is slated to play Clarks Summit in a single game before taking on Centenary in a three-game set over the weekend. CENTENARY UNIVERSITY CYCLONES (4-20, 3-12 CSAC) The Cyclones went 2-2 this past week with a series finale loss to Gwynedd-Mercy (10-5) on Apr. 17th, a series opening victory against Marywood on Apr. 21st (17-4) and a split with the Pacers(3-2/9-5) on Apr. 22nd. Junior Tim Maxwell hit.533 with nine RBI's and three runs scored, while both junior Sean Donovan and senior Nick Daniele each recorded four RBI's apiece. On the mound juniors James Graziani and Luis Santiago each earned their first victory of the season. Next week, the Cyclones have a weekend series with Cairn University on Apr. 28-29th. GWYNEDD MERCY UNIVERSITY GRIFFINS (19-10-1, 10-5 CSAC) Gwynedd defeated Centenary, 10-5, on Monday. Nick Mulvey was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI's. Jared Gorman worked six scoreless innings, scattering four hits, to pick up the win. The Griffins scored a doubleheader sweep over Cabrini Saturday. They won the opener 7-2 and earned a 10-9 comeback win in the nightcap. With the two wins, Gwynedd has now won seven in a row. Nick DeRitis earned the win in game one, pitching a complete game with three strikeouts. In game two, Mulvey lead the Griffin offense going 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBI's and three runs scored. GMercyU defeated Cabrini, 6-2, on Friday afternoon to open up the CSAC weekend series. Justin Curtin had three hits on the day. R.J. Boyle earned the win, working five innings out of the bullpen striking out six Cavaliers. AROUND THE CSAC IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY MIGHTY MACS (19-5, 12-2 CSAC) The Mighty Macs went 5-1 this week to improve to 19-5 on the season, including a 3-1 mark in the CSAC. The Macs swept Cairn in a doubleheader on Monday to finish off a three game sweep of them by scores of 10-5 and 10-2. IU got solid pitching from Trevor O'Brien, Ryan Blough, and Billy Manzo in the two games, and home runs by Justin Dempsey and Howie Kalamets. IU nearly tossed the first no-hitter in team history to defeat No. 12/15 Alvernia on Wednesday, 3-2, and followed that with a 12-8 win over Ursinus. The Macs then split a doubleheader with Neumann over the weekend. They lost the first one 5-4 in extras and followed that with a 15-3 bounce back win. The two teams will finish their series on Monday afternoon before the Macs play Gwynedd Mercy in a three-game series this week. KEYSTONE COLLEGE GIANTS (22-8, 13-2 CSAC) Keystone went 5-1 (4-0 CSAC) last week, defeating Marywood and Rutgers Camden, losing at Widener, and sweeping a three-game series from Cairn over the weekend. Brady Barr led the Giants with 10 hits, Chris Panzarella had 12 RBI, and Brendan Long scored 10 runs. Miguel Reyes had two wins on the mound while Troy Terzi, Billy Nelson, and Tyler Widitz won their pitching starts. Keystone will host non-conference games against Misericordia and Wilkes on Tuesday and Wednesday before taking on Neumann in a CSAC series over the weekend. MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY PACERS (9-19, 5-10 CSAC) Marywood went 2-5 the week which included a 1-3 CSAC mark. Marywood dropped games to Keystone and Wilkes to start the week before beating Clarks Summit in the opening game of a doubleheader. After three more losses, Marywood closed the week by winning the final game of the series 9-5 over Centenary in eight innings. Marywood has another busy week ahead with games against Lebanon Valley, King's and a three-game series with Cabrini. NEUMANN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS (16-13, 10-4 CSAC) Neumann 3-1 overall and 2-1 in conference action. The Knights started with an 18-1 win at Cabrini and an 8-7 win at Montclair State in non-conference action. Neumann wrapped up the week splitting a doubleheader against Immaculata. Matt McLaughlin batted.417 for the week. Curt Yenchik knocked in a team high eight runs, including a grand slam against the Cavaliers. Duncan Balara hit a two-run homerun against Immaculata. Evan Emerich had a two-run single for the walk-off win over the Mighty Macs. This week, Neumann will wrap up the season series with Immaculata on Monday. The Knights will then travel to PS-Berks on Tuesday. This weekend Neumann will face Keystone for the season series, traveling to the Giants on Friday before hosting the doubleheader on Saturday.
