NOTICE OF RACE The Golden Anniversary 50 TH GERALDTON OCEAN CLASSIC and GERALDTON RETURN RACE 2018 (Also incorporating the Lobster Pot Regatta, a separate NoR and Sailing Instructions will be issued by Geraldton Yacht Club) Preamble: The 50 th Anniversary of the Geraldton Ocean Classic is a celebration of 50 consecutive seasons that this classic event has been run and remains the only annual category 2 event on the Western Australian offshore calendar. As such, it has frequently been used as a qualifying event by Western Australian yachts wishing to compete in the Sydney to Hobart race. The return race has earned a reputation for being a tough slog to windward, yet there have also been many occasions like the 2017 race, when breezes for the return have been perfect. The Organising Authority is the South of Perth Yacht Club, with the assistance of the Geraldton Yacht Club. The notation [DP] in a rule in the NoR means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than disqualification. 1.
