TRAIL BLAZING SAMS FLORIDA CHAPTER # 47 March, 2018 Issue 5 of 9 Newsletter Year Nov 2017 Oct 2018 PRESIDENT VICE PRESIDENT SECRETARY TREASURER John Russano Ray Turner Mike Lima Linda Kuiken (352) 200-1280 (813) 779-9561 (813)220-8116 (941)365-1453 March Campout Mar 22 25, 2018 Paradise Oaks RV Resort 4628 Cr 475, Bushnell, FL 33513 Our March Hosts Bill & Ruth Hemphill Bill and Ruth joined Trail Blazing Sams in 2016 with a long history of camping in tents, pop-up, travel trailer and finally motorhome. Bill's parents gave Ruth a sleeping bag for her wedding present to let her know what kind of life she was in for! Now 46 years later they are still enjoying camping. Bill and Ruth moved to Tampa after 20 years in the Air Force. Bill's goal was to drive south till no one knew what a snow shovel was after spending many AF years in cold, snowy locations. Bill worked in teaching and construction management post AF. Ruth spent her career as an RN with last position being Chief Nursing Officer at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. Both enjoy spending time with their two daughters, son-in-law and three grandkids who all live close by.

Page 2 EARLY BIRD THURSDAY First we all gathered in the clubhouse at Paradise Oaks. We all enjoy spending time catching up on all the latest news. Then we all caravanned to our favorite Mexican restaurant in Bushnell, Coyote Rojo. The food is so good here and there is always plenty of it. Pictured to the right: John, Joan, Ray and Rita Margaritas are a specialty at Coyote Rojo, so several of us took advantage of the icy beverages. After dinner, we returned to the clubhouse where some of us enjoyed card games, Shoot The Moon and Sevens, while others just enjoyed sitting around and talking. Early Bird Thursday is always so much fun. Page 3 FRIDAY MEETING Since President John Russano couldn t be with us the entire weekend, we held our meeting Friday morning. Fourteen member rigs camped at the Rally plus 2 drive ins. Also, we had two member guests. The highlight of the meeting was the swearing in of two new member couples, Roy & Mona Pulaski and Pete & Eileen Colon. Welcome. John presented Stars to all the TBS members who volunteered at the Florida State Good Sam Rally in Tallahassee. Page 4 FRIDAY BEAN BAG BASEBALL AND OTHER FUN ACTIVITIES At almost every campout, we all enjoy a friendly competition of Bean Bag Baseball, guys against the girls. For the past several competitions, the guys have had some lucky shots and some skillful shots, too. But this time, it was the girls who persevered. We are all looking forward to next time. Pictured Below: Frank and Steve enjoying a game of horseshoes It s About Time The Girls Are # 1 Relaxing In The Sunshine Coach Richard Giving The Guys Some Pointers The Girls Are Ready To Play

Page 5 FRIDAY PIZZA PARTY What better way to celebrate our TBS 41st anniversary than with a pizza party and ice cream social. Last year when we celebrated our 40th anniversary, we had so many contributions from members that we had some money left. We voted to save that money for a party this year. We enjoyed several different kinds of delicious pizza. To top off our dinner, we allhad fun making our own ice cream sundaes. Then it was time for cards and games. Pizza Sure Does Taste Good Enjoying Our Pizza Time To Get Our Your Dimes We Love To Play Games

Page 6 BOCCE BALL COMPETITION We all love a good game of bocce ball. In teams of 4, we had a lot of fun and some friendly competition. Congratulations to the winning team pictured to the right: Mary Murray, Serge Frechette, Ruth Hemphill and Roy Pulaski.. Pictured below: Two of the competitors, Liz and Mike Abrams with Ruth and Serge. Enjoying The Sunshine Above Jill & Nancy Below Mary & Linda A Great Way To Spend An Afternoon

Page 7 MAKING EASTER BASKETS Making Easter Baskets is always so much fun, and especially this year since the baskets were going to the Messenger of Hope Mission. The baskets will go to children who otherwise wouldn t have one. We all brought at least 2 baskets. We also brought lots of packaged candy, stuffed animals, toys and games to put in the baskets. A large chocolate Easter bunny was the centerpiece in each basket. The first step was to organize everything and then to fill each basket with a nice variety. Each basket was wrapped in colorful cellophane and tied with ribbon. Our final tally was over 60 beautiful baskets. We Had So Much Fun Making The Easter Baskets

Page 8 SATURDAY NIGHT Saturday night our hosts, Bill and Ruth Hemphill, provided us with a delicious dinner, catered by Rhonda. We all enjoyed pulled pork, chicken, lots of salads and for dessert, peach cobbler and chocolate cake. After dinner, we played Card Bingo, a game we all enjoy. Bill Conway led the festivities and made each game unique and lots of fun. Mike, Bill, Nancy Serge, Jeannette & Richard Time To Stand Up & Stretch
