Hi All, it s been awhile since I ve reported any news but this year has been very busy for the club, we now have started Ladies Day on Tuesday starting at 1.30pm and it s a fun afternoon, the girls love it. We have had our midyear Snooker Competition, we were playing for a new trophy this year ( in the trophy cabinet), the final came down to Jim and Eric with Eric the winner, our congratulations to him, well done Eric. Our midyear competition with the Oxenford Snooker Club has been played and it saddens me to say PLR lost. On a brighter side both teams have won the shield four times each over the eight years we ve been playing. The Oxenford boys again expressed their appreciation to us for hosting the comp. we all thanked Shelia, Eileen and Joan for lunch, good work girls also our thanks to the Pool Boys for giving up there morning game. We have also started a reciprocal game with Kurrajong D Bay, both the boys up there and us are enjoying the rivalry between the two Villages. Wishing love and happiness to all. Harvey Waterfield, V 184

DECEPTION BAY BOWLS CLUB NEWS Exciting news ahead for our Club Firstly on the afternoon of 2nd August a trial run was played of Scroungers If you have not played this interesting game before, I will try to explain it in as few words as possible, It is not a team game you play for yourself, even though there may be more than two on your rink. The idea is to get as close to the Jack as possible. 3 bowls are needed, points are given. 3 nearest the jack, next bowl 2 points and 1 point for the 3rd closest. Other points are given or taken accordingly to the rules, This proved to be a popular game, so future scheduled games will be played 3.30pm on 1st Wednesday of the month. Come & practice/improve your draw shots enjoy the company and have fun playing bowls. FOLLOWING DATES TO REMEMBER September 1st Friday September 6th Wednesday September 11th Monday Bowls BBQ Day 9am Scroungers 3.30pm General Meeting 12 noon October 4th Wednesday Scroungers 3.30pm October 6th Friday Myrtle Trophy /BBQ Day 9am A SPECIAL THANK YOU Ena Parritt & Family would like to give a special thanks to all those kind Residents who sent messages of support, cards, flowers etc. after the passing of Ian on 8th July, very much appreciated. Ian & I were very fortunate to have celebrated our 60th Wedding Anniversary on the 15th June. Sincere thanks Ena Villa 127
