K.I.-SAMEN Welcome to the 2018 catalogue of Groninger - Blaarkop Sires selected by Cattle Genie Limited from the bull stud of KI-SAMEN. The proofs displayed are from the April 2018 run. The Blaarkop breed is the most fertile of all popular dairy breeds recorded in the Netherlands & the shortest gestation length also. The breed is often utilised in cross breeding with Friesian dairy herds and the white marker face and black circles around the eyes is very prolific in being transferred to offspring, as are the black pigmented hooves and tongue. Ease of calving is another strong trait no doubt linked to the much shorter gestation length of the breed. Groninger -Blaarkop are famed for producing cheeses due to very high levels of milk Protein and low levels of harmful transient fats. They are known fondly as the "Polder Panda's" in the Netherlands. Below is the Dutch base cow table, this is known as "Local" and is set on the MRI breed evaluation, the Blaarkop, Friesian and breeds such as Fleckvieh are measured on this base. Bertus 12 daughters have all the Blaarkop traits, tremendous fertility, shorter intervals to first service and with milking speeds of 105 and temperament of 104 his daughters are a pleasure to milk. Bertus 12 is a typicle "dairy build" Blaarkop and his Sire Willem 5 breeds moderate sized cows with good udders, high fertility and longevity are known from this line. Breeder is J.J.W. JULIUS HM ( RF) Grashoek JULIUS HM is an extremely easy calving Blaarkop bull with a calving survey of 104 and very good calf survival rates. First calves are born in Dorset have confirmed this and his calves are up and about in no time. It is a fact that the Groninger Blaarkop breed are recognised for their very short gestation length and in the case of Julius he has produced UK born calves from HF & Jersey X Bred dairy cows up to 10 days before the predicted calving date! He is an ideal choice for use in the last week of A.I. in block calving herds & Julius HM has very fertile semen also.

These calves have all a distinctive facial markings of the Blaarkop enabling them to be identified easily. The male calves will be highly suited to a grass finishing system, the female calves are ideal for entering the dairy herd or for a suckler enterprise. These cattle are noted for their hardiness, they have black pigmented hooves and a winter coat that has a slight curl enabling them to withstand rain and conditions cold better. High milk protein and good levels of milk fat are traits of the breed and Julius daughters are very good in this regard, Julius is an A2/A2 bull and is AB Kappa Casein & 110 for daughter fertility and 103 for hoof health Daughter average productions Milk 5,331 Kg Fat % 4,48 Protein & 3,49 Reliability 94% Dutch data April 2018 with 133 daughters in milk in 56 herds.
