Premier Intermediate Hurling League At a sun drenched Ballyanly on Saturday evening last our Intermediate hurlers played Inniscarra in the league and lost by the narrowest of margins on a score line of 1.15 to 0.19. The first half began with Inniscarra racing ahead and after eight minutes led by 6 points to 2, a point from Kevin Canty and a free from Richie Butler. Three more frees from Richie Butler and a point from play from his brother Colm Butler had the Rovers just down a point after fifteen minutes. Some needless fouling from the Rovers gave Inniscarra the upper hand again and at half time they led 0.13 to 0.08 with a point from Billy Crowley and another free from Richie Butler adding to our tally. There was a vast improvement from the Rovers in the second half with substitute John Cottrell lifting the tempo with three points from play along with points from Colm Butler, Billy Crowley and Kevin Canty before Jack Walsh goaled with five minutes remaining. Alas Inniscarra finished the stronger to snatch victory with two late scores. Final score: Valley Rovers 1.15 to Inniscarra 0.19. The Rovers played well in the second half with a goal coming from Aaron Lyons and a second from Misco Savic. This put the Rovers 10 points ahead but Courceys made a great come back to level the game at full time. Final score Valley Rovers 3-16 to Courcey Rovers 3-16. U8 Hurling U10 Hurling Last Saturday morning Valley Rovers U10 Hurlers made the journey to Carrigtwohill to play their last Rebel Og game before the summer break. Due to the hot weather the game consisted of three thirds to allow for water breaks. Carrigtwohill displayed much greater awareness of space and their execution of the skills were much faster than that of Valley Rovers. As the game progressed the Rovers began to come to grips with the faster pace of the game and acquitted themselves quite well in the final third. This was a very worthwhile game and hopefully the lads will have learned a lot from this game. We would like to thank a very sporting Carrigtwohill team and mentors for hosting the game. It is important that the lads continue to practice their skills at home and to try and perform them at a faster pace. Last Saturday our U8 Valley Rovers squad played a monster blitz at Cork's Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The sun shone brightly as the whistle blew to call them onto this fabulous astro pitch. Both Valley Rovers teams performed to very high standards for all of their matches. Well done to all players & we look forward to more of this great hurling quality in the future. Three Valley Rovers players will represent a Cork West team in the FE 15 Humphrey Kelleher Tournament next weekend - Jacob O Driscoll, Ciaràn McCarthy and Ben Humphreys. Well done lads! Page 3 of 7

Courcey Rovers camogie club were also present, with the Rovers fielding two teams alongside one from each of the other clubs.
