SCHOOL UNIFORMS MUST BE WORN FOR FALL SCHOOL PICTURES 09.15.16 OPEN HOUSE AT ECMS 09.19.16 HOMECOMING WEEK BEGINS Come out to show your Stingray pride at the home football game against Lewis at 6:00pm Thank you for all who came out to kick it up for the first ECMS dance of the new school year. A great time was had by all! Go Stingrays! District Advisory Council Parent/Student Representatives Are Needed ECMS needs a parent/student volunteer team to represent our school on the DAC (District Advisory Council). This team would help our school in the development of our School Improvement Plan as well as represent our school once a month in district meetings in DeFuniak Springs and review other schools Improvement Plans. If you are interested in getting involved in this process and can dedicated some time to our school please contact Mr. Infinger at: infingej@walton.k12.fl.us or (850)622-5026.

ECMS Mentoring Program is a BIG HIT Stingray success begins early in the year! Emerald Coast Middle School implemented their new mentoring buddy program, pairing up some amazing students. A big thank you to everyone involved! We are very proud of this really great program. SCIENCE LAB Eighth graders started out the year with hands-on labs comparing volume, mass and density. Mark your calendars for the ECMS Science Fair on November 2 nd. 2

Did Someone Say FOOTBALL Our Stingrays have been hard at work playing ball! Come out to support your team check out the season schedule here: http://ecm.walton.k12.fl.us/football Auditions for the ECMS Improv Group will be held on Monday Sept. 19 from 3:30-5:00. Students must prepare a 1-2 minute audition piece showcasing their ability to make others laugh. We are accepting 20 students to work with the Seaside Rep. See Mrs. Gerhardt for details. 3

Did You Know BETA CLUB: The next Beta Club meeting will be after school on Monday, September 12 in Ms. McMichael s room. Officers will be elected during the meeting and planning for our Homecoming Dance will be discussed. ECMS Academic Team: Team practice will begin on Tuesday, September 13 th, in Mrs. Burn s room from 3:30-4:30. All ECMS students are eligible to join. Color Guard: Color Guard members will perform on our ECMS pep rally days and on October 4 th and October 11 th during our home football games. Come out to support your colors Stingrays! Science Geeks: Ms. Murray s Science Geeks Group has started meeting. Nurse Note 6 th Grade Health Screenings will begin on November 8 th at 8:30am. Our ECMS Diaper Drive had a great turnout! Thank you to all who donated to help Walton County families. Winners of the free dress day will be announced soon! Student Council: Mrs. Meghan Miller and the members are hard at work counting votes for grade level representatives.
