Beaumont Middle School Cheerleading Tryout Packet Tryout Information: Clinics: August 27 th, 28 th 4:00 6:00 in the Beaumont Cafeteria Tryouts: August 29 th in the gym. Time 4:00 until tryouts are finished. Tryouts are closed to parents. Requirements: You must have a current KHSAA physical on file prior to Monday, August 27 th, to be able to participate in clinics and tryouts. Tryout packet and contract needs to be turned in and signed to Mrs. Wylie prior to the first day of clinic Monday, August 27 th ) You will be expected to learn a cheer and dance routine for tryouts You have to have and maintain a 2.O GPA and have appropriate behavior Clinics are mandatory in order to tryout Important Information: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY 1. Practice/Games- Practice will begin August 30 th 4-6:00pm following a mandatory parent meeting at 6:00pm in the library. Some of the practices are after school but most practices are at night. During the season, a cheerleader cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences (an absence will be considered excused if it meets the following: family emergency, doctor s excuse, church or school related event). Parents must contact the coach ahead of time if a cheerleader will miss a game or practice. 2. Grades- You must maintain a 2.0 GPA and satisfactory conduct throughout the entire season. 3. Candidates must maintain a good attitude AT ALL TIMES. If chosen to represent the BMS Cheer Squad, it is imperative that you have a good attitude AT ALL TIMES. Those who cannot represent the team in a positive way will not remain on the team. 4. ALL BMS CHEERLEADERS AND PARENTS MUST: 1) Respect Coaches. Lack of respect will result in immediate consequences or dismissal from the squad. 2) Respect fellow Cheerleaders. We are a team and will support one another. There will be no gossiping or inappropriate behavior. 3) Respect each and every adult in the building, including teachers, office staff, administrators, and custodians. 5. Ability-You are to maintain the ability level that was exhibited at tryouts. 6. Fundraising- Fundraising assists with a choreographer, competition fees and other necessary items throughout the season. 7. Competitions: We will compete in a competition. (Fees may apply if not fundraised for). 8. Costs-You are responsible for buying all socks, ribbons/bows, shoes, mock neck midriff, boy cut briefs, white shorts and school insurance ($25) as stated in the Fayette County Athletic Guidelines. Warm-ups and Cheerleading T-shirts are optional (these will be ordered at the beginning of the season if you choose to purchase these items). 9. Commitment-The cheerleading season starts after tryouts and goes to mid-march. You must be totally committed to this activity. At competition time, we may need to add practices and it is your responsibility to clear your schedule. Lack of commitment may result in your dismissal from the team. 10. Attendance to School-Cheerleaders must attend at least ½ of the school day on the day of any event in order to participate (games/practices).
11. All-Star Squads and/or other activities a. Beaumont must be first priority. 12. a. Missing a Beaumont game or practice because of other activities will result in consequence indicated by coaches. b. You are responsible for discussing these terms with your all star coach and/or activity representative. 13. Your parents or guardian will need an email address. This cuts down on parent meetings. Cheerleader Demerit List Each participant on the cheerleading squad is expected to act and represent Beaumont in a mannerly way. All cheerleaders must agree to the following guidelines. If a cheerleader receives 20 demerits, they will be removed from the squad. No questions asked! The coach and school administration are the only ones who can issue demerits. All cheerleaders are expected to attend all practices and games. 1. 3 demerits for goofing off and being unsafe at practices. 2. 3 demerits for goofing off and being unsafe at games. 3. 3 demerits for not showing sportsman like conduct during a ballgame. 4. 3 demerits for not following schools rules and receiving a negative BBB. 5. 3 demerits for wearing the wrong uniform to a ballgame. 6. 3 demerits for not wearing appropriate shoes to a ballgame. 7. 3 demerits for wearing jewelry to practice or games. 8. 3 demerits for chewing gum at a ballgame. 9. 3 demerits for wearing fingernail polish to a ballgame. 10. 3 demerits for hair not in a ponytail at a ballgame. 11. 3 demerits for not wearing a ribbon in hair at a ballgame. 12. 5 demerits and will be benched for a ballgame for not maintaining a 2.0 GPA. 13. 5 demerits for two D s on a nine weeks grade report. 14. 5 demerits for each F from weekly grade check. 15. 5 demerits and benched 1 ballgame for one F on a nine weeks grade report. 16. 5 demerits for co-safe or detention. 17. 5 demerits for bad teacher report to the coach. 18. 5 demerits for missing practice without a proper excuse. (If a cheerleader has to miss practice or a game, an email/call from a parent must be sent to the coach prior to practice. 19. 5 demerits for missing a game without a proper excuse. (If a cheerleader has to miss practice or a game, an email/call from a parent must be sent to the coach prior to the game. 20. 10 demerits and benched 2 games for having SAFE 21. 10 demerits and benched 2 games for having an Office Referral. 22. 20 demerits for fighting and will be removed from the squad. 23. 20 demerits for being suspended and will be removed from the squad. *Proper excuse to miss a game or practice can be one of the following: personal illness (must have doctor note), family emergency, church or school related event. (Parents must email or call Mrs. Wylie prior to the absence. It will be unacceptable for a cheerleader to call or email the coach about an absence).*if a cheerleader gets an office referral at any time, it will be discussed by the coach and school administration as to whether they will still be able to stay on the team. Conduct that is inappropriate of a BMS cheerleader will not be tolerated. The coach and administration will determine the demerits and punishment.

Medical Treatment Authorization And Liability Release Form I, the undersigned parent or guardian, do hereby grant permission for my son/daughter,, to participate in the activity of cheerleading at Beaumont Middle School. In order that my son/daughter may receive the necessary medical treatment in the event he/she may sustain injury or illness during participation in this activity, I hereby authorize the cheerleading coach or other supervising adult to obtain medical treatment for my son/daughter for such injury or illness during the activity, and I hereby hold Fayette County Public Schools, and its representatives harmless in the exercise of authority. I understand that this activity involves risk to the participant. I further acknowledge and understand that due to the nature of this activity, which involves inversion and rotation of the body, there is a possibility that my son/daughter may sustain physical illness or injury (minimal, serious, or catastrophic), in connection with his or her participation. I further acknowledge and understand that my son/daughter is assuming the risk of such physical illness or injury by his/her participation, and I further release Beaumont Middle School and its representatives from any claims for personal illness or injury that my son/daughter may sustain during participation in this activity.
