Section 2 Element 1 Intervention and Rescue Practical rescue immediate response. Section 2 Element 2 Rescue of a Casualty with a Suspected Spinal Injury (conscious and cooperative) 2.6.1 SCIM Deep water rescue. Casualty no more than 8 metres out, vice grip, roll and trawl 10 metres to support standing in shallow water. If only shallow water is available then head splint. The casualty will be deemed to have suffered a sudden collapse and the team has been alerted to the development of an emergency / EAP implemented.
