The celebration started off with the girls brigade members marching into the hall proudly with the Singapore flag. As they reached the hall, one of the pupils from the girls brigade went up on stage to guide the other members. The performance started and this year s national day song was played after we finished singing the national anthem and saying the Singapore pledge. As the head com prefects were raising up the Singapore flag, we felt pride for our country. stage and danced to the rhythm of the music. The Danz group came and performed different styles of dance for the pupils in our school. The pupils in school were shouting gleefully as a reaction to their stunning performances! The members of Danz even chose volunteers up on stage to perform as the Danz members taught them as well as the whole school. Hari Raya Puasa was celebrated in school along with National Day, which was on the 7 th of August 2013. The muslim girls came on

Page 3 BUBBLE 2 Our school s Dance Mania started and loud cheers were heard. It first started off with the MC for the day, who introduced the judges for the dance mania contest. The MC was Mrs Linda Ng. The dance mania judges were Ms Lim Siew Hoon, Mrs Seto and Ms Serene Chan. There were many contestants from different levels and classes. After the performance, the judges arrived at a decision and Ms Serene Chan went up on stage and announced the winner for the soloist and group contestants for Dance Mania 2013! Aiko Tan from 5F was the winner for the soloist category while Ashley Ng (5G), Shanel Goh Wan Qin(5D) and Priscilla Chan (5A) were the winners for the group category. win a mini prize! Every level, a pupil will stand a chance to win prizes if they answer questions correctly. Only 1 girl in the level get to answer the question given. After the quiz, we sang the last few national day songs. Soon, it was time to go home. It had been a fun day and everyone in the school enjoyed the celebrations as we headed off back home. After the winners for the Dance Mania contestants were announced, Mrs Linda Ng, the MC for the day, said that there would be a National Day Quiz for everyone. Those who answered correctly would get to

Page 4 Written by: Hannah (5H) Edited by: Frances Judge and Jaime Gooi (6R) This year s National Education Show for Primary 5 students, fell on the 27 July 2013. Singapore turned 48 years old this year. National Day falls on the 9 August every year. National Day is to celebrate and commemorate the day Singapore gained independence. This was the day when Singapore parted from Malaysia. The venue of every National Day Parade is The Float at Marina Bay. The Primary Fives were invited to watch the rehearsal of the National Day Parade. This is the most anticipated day for most of the Primary Fives. This year s National Day theme was Many Stories One Singapore. It called on everyone to remember and share the stories that made us who we are and how we identified ourselves as Singaporeans. Vivid and descriptive performances were featured, including the Singapore Navy in their boats, the Combined School Choir, the fighter jets and the Red Lions. The fearless Red Lions jumped down from a helicopter that was high in the sky. They were skydivers who had done more than a hundred jumps in their lives. One of them, Shirley Ng, made history by being the first female Red Lion and was interviewed by the presenters. The students cheered as the Red Lions landed on the Floating Platform. I really enjoyed the National Day Parade, especially the fighter jets as they showed me what the army used to protect our country.

Page 5 BUBBLE 1 Written by: Audris Poon (5G) and Citrene Chua (5H) Edited by: Shirley Chee and Phang Yeu Yeou (6R) 9th August 2013 was Singapore s 48th birthday. This year, it was our turn to attend the NE show. This year s fun pack itself is in Red and White, which are Singapore s National Colors. It includes snack and drinks, Clapper, a Singapore Flag, the usual light stick, whistle, a fan and the newlyimplemented storybook of Singapore s. It is fun and trendy as many have commented. The opening performance was called The Singaporean Song. The following performance was about the Malay Percussion Drums team. They played wonderfully. The third performance was one of the emcees singing a Chinese song. His name was Sebastian Tan. The next performance was to do with drums. The performers were dressed in many colours. The first Red Lion jumped down from the helicopter! We cheered for them. It was really exciting o see the honorary Red Lions in person! This year, we were really thrilled to be there to see the first female Red Lion, Shirley Ng! After that, we were surprised when the little emcees came out. They were supposed to be he younger versions of the real emcees! Last but not least, it was the fireworks! Everyone cheered when they saw the fireworks. It was spectacular! After that, all the P5s walked back to their buses. We finally reached school at 10:30pm. We were all exhausted, but happy at heart.

Page 6 Written by: Eunice Lim and Wong Yew Ling (5D) Edited by: Jaime Gooi and Frances Judge (6R) 9th August is a very special day for Singapore. Every household celebrates National Day! National day is celebrated on this day because this was the day when Singapore separated from Malaysia. This year s theme for the National Day Parade (NDP) 2013 was Many Stories one Singapore. On 27 th of July 2013, all the P5 students of RGPS went to the floating platform to watch a the National Day Parade! We met in the school hall and waited anxiously for our teachers to lead us to buses that were waiting to bring us to the floating platform. When we reached the floating platform, the place was chaotic. We had to squeeze our way through the crowd to be able to get to the floating platform, and to make things worse, it started to drizzle. We were worried that it would rain heavily and we would not be able to enjoy the show as much Just when we thought the drizzling would not stop, it did stop! Kachang puteh men and threw packets of peanuts to the audience. The show started with a few activities for example and they had a few performers quizzes on Singapore s history. The time for the actual show finally arrived! We were so pumped up about the show that we could barely contain our excitement! Once the show started, everyone was captivated. We couldn t take our eyes off the performers on the stage. To our amazement, the performance went without a mistake even though it was a rehearsal.

Page 7 BUBBLE 1 Without us knowing it, the time for the end of the parade came. The fireworks were spectacular! When they ended, we were terribly disappointed that it ended so early. Since we were one of the last schools to leave, we had a great time discussing all the different performances. We returned back to school, happy but tired. This was a day that we would never forget. I hope that we will be able to have yet another opportunity to go to the NE again next time! I enjoyed it a lot and I hope that I will get the chance to watch the NDP again, said Trixie Wee of 5E There were many things in the fun pack, including snacks and drinks. Although we thought that the design of the fun pack was not very creative, we still enjoyed the show thoroughly. We also managed to see the first female Red Lion live! All in all, we enjoyed the NE Show very much and we hope that we will get another opportunity to watch it again. The Magnificent Fireworks after the parade! Page 9 Written by: Nurin Irdina (5H) Edited by: Frances Judge and Jaime Gooi (6R) This year all the primary 5 students went to the NE show rehearsal on the 27 th July 2013. Before we went to the floating platform, a student from primary 5H said that she was too excited for the rehearsal as it was her first time going to the rehearsal. When we reached there, we had to walk as the bus stopped at Esplanade Drive. There were lots of students there wearing red and white shirts. It was raining when we were walking to the floating platform. When we reached the floating platform, there were lots of empty seats. We sat in the yellow segment which had the best view as it was in the center section. Among all the performances, the one I enjoyed most was the fireworks. Day Parade again!
