Eclectic by Dianne Rogers Eclectic Course- Pick up your ball or not? The RESORT course is our eclectic course this year. Page 6 of your ECWGG handbook states, if you pick up your ball on a hole, you MAY NOT use that score on that hole. I know many of us tell our foursome to pick up, because that ball will not contribute to the team game. IF this is the case PLEASE record your Equitable Stroke Control, (ESC) score with an X by that number. When I calculate your eclectic score at the end of the season, this score will not be used. What about picking up on the Ridge or Challenge course? If it s a game hole, a hole that counts toward the game for that day- DO NOT pick up your ball! Play it out. If the hole does not count toward the game, you can play to your ESC and score with an X by that number. In addition, if you are a new player and are in the process of establishing a handicap, it is very important to count every stroke in order to establish an accurate handicap to begin with. DO NOT pick up your ball! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask Dianne Rogers or Linda Kelly. Social Event News The 2018 Wine & Whine Cup Tournament Will the Pinot Gris make it three in a row or will the Pinot Noir rise to the challenge and take home the 2018 Solheim Wine & Whine trophy? Only you can influence the outcome by signing up and playing in this year s Wine Cup tournament! This year s Wine & Whine Cup is scheduled for Tuesday, July 17, 8:00 am shotgun on the Ridge. The past 2 years have been so much fun and a great opportunity to get to know other club members and understand how the Solhiem Cup works. All you need to do is sign up at the next two Tuesday golf days and pay your $7 to cover the cost of the luncheon & wine. You can also sign up on the club bulletin board anytime between now and July 10th at the Ridge club house and place your check in the Wine Cup Manila envelope at the desk. If paying cash, place cash in one of the small white envelopes provided inside the Manila envelope being sure to sign your name on the outside of the white envelope. We really want to encourage the new members to sign up and enjoy. There have been 50+ members playing in each of the past two Wine Cups and we hope this year will be no exception. So, get out your Red or White shirt to be ready when the teams are announced. Remember, you are only playing against a club member who is the same level handicap as yourself. After golfing, we will be gathering at the home of Bobbie Haas (8840 Eagle Crest Blvd) for lunch and to Wine & Whine. Golf, Lunch, Wine & Friendship= a beautiful combination!!!! Rules Report by Judy Soeten Our Board of Directors has requested a rule of the week - learning tip be presented at check in for Day's Play. As Rules Chairperson, I look forward to this opportunity. We are currently establishing the most efficient method to present this learning tip. In the meantime I suggest you keep your USGA Rules of Golf booklet within handy access in your golf bag. Also, as a discipline during the month of July, if we all read the definitions we will have a much greater understanding of our game and the rules. I will continue to work with our pro shop in order to have a professional Q and A presentation.........................!7

Handicap Using Your Course Handicap to Post an Accurate Score When mistakes are being made to what a member posts as their score, it is usually because they are incorrectly calculating how their index effects their course handicap. Therefore, please note the following chart and your course handicap that is reflected on your scorecard and adjust scores accordingly.
