We re challenging ourselves again to honor those who are challenged daily.
Bean Team Racing, Inc c/o The Bike Bistro 20351 Summerlin Road, Unit 114 Fort Myers, FL 33908 November 18, 2015 Name Here, Street/Ste. City, State Zip Dear Friend, Imagine pedaling a bicycle 3,000 miles from coast to coast in under 7 days. Well, The Bean Team did it last year shocking everyone finishing in fourth in their bracket and beating some of the best in the world. Very few of us can imagine the trauma of combat and the horror of war. It is something that, thankfully, many of us are blessed to remain blissfully ignorant. Those who can relate don t have to imagine it they ve lived it. For those who return home, the battle is seldom over. In fact, in many ways, it s the start of an entirely new and different fight. For some, it s about re-fortifying their family relationships and reentering society. For others, it is about overcoming the injuries they have sustained to regain some semblance of normalcy. Operation Homefront has worked tirelessly to help these men and women through these challenges, refusing to let their actions go unhonored or their challenges unaided. The Bean Team, now entering as 2-man unit, believe in this cause. They have signed on to race, once again, in the toughest bike race in the world The Race Across America. Yes, 3,000 miles, from coast to coast, in under 7 days AND we re going for the 2-man record as well. To our way of thinking, it s as fitting a stage as any to help raise money and awareness for the challenges our military families face daily. The attached document will detail who we are, what we re doing and why we need your support to give this cause the support it deserves. We thank you for your attention and consideration. IN PURSUIT OF THE RAAM 2-MAN RECORD: 3,000 miles. Coast-to-coast. In under 7 days. It s the world s toughest bike race and a fitting stage to honor some of our nation s finest men and women. The Bean Team has chosen to take on this formidable challenge to raise money and awareness for Operation Homefront; an organization dedicated to helping military families on a number of levels. The race is a 3,000-mile trek from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD and arguably one of the toughest tests of endurance a cyclist can sign on for.
Two Men. Varied Backgrounds. One Mission. The Bean Team is a group of passionate cyclists who have committed to riding in this race to support Operation Homefront. Not unlike a team of soldiers assembled from varied backgrounds and trained to perform as a team these two men are training to let their own form of teamwork lead them to complete their mission on behalf of our veterans. Bike Bistro: A true destination for cyclists. An homage to tradition. For cyclists in Fort Myers, FL and nearby Sanibel Island, the Bike Bistro has a vibe that resonates with bicycle riders of all types. It was designed to honor the European tradition of combining cycling and a warm, coffee-shop atmosphere, giving cycling enthusiasts a destination to relax, and enjoy conversation about the sport they love. In similar fashion, the shop has assembled the Bean Team to ride in the grueling Race Across America, to honor our country s servicemen and the proud tradition of service they committed to. We hope you share our passion for this mission, and look forward to your support. Steve Martin Owner Ian MacDonald Manager Mike Volk Service Manager
