SOS was a great time for all who attended. Our Parade entry and Pavilion party were good times to be remembered. I am back swimming in the ocean now for the past few weeks, and am now over 10 miles the Jelly fish are back! Summer time is right around the corner. It is so good to see so many club members out and about on the dance floor. We will be having a Pasta Dinner on the club with fixings at our May 13 th dance, angel hair or baked ziti pasta with your choice of meat or non-meat sauces with a salad and Parmesan bread. Bring desserts. I really enjoyed the recent Pizza night and have been so pleased with our turnouts so far. Over 1/3 of our club members made the SOS Parade and Pavilion party a priority. As President, it s great to see this level of enthusiasm. Our club still needs volunteers to sign up to be Door Greeters and do the 50/50 at our upcoming dances. Both of these offer opportunities to get to know other club members. Oak Island Beach Day will be coming soon on Friday, July 1 st. I was able to get the Holiday Band for the music so it should be a great evening here on Oak Island as part of the NC 4 th of July Festival. Come out and enjoy the evening. There will be a dance contest with DJ Robert Carter between band sets. Our upcoming board meeting will be Thursday, May 12 th at the VFW, starting at 6 PM. Let us know if there are club issues that we need to address. We hope to see you on the dance floor where we will have great DJ s this month. They have 4 wonderful grandchildren ranging in ages from 2 to 13. selling their Maryland home. After looking up and down the East Coast from Delaware to Charleston, they bought land in St. James in 2005 because of the close proximity to the ocean, which they love. They built their home in 2014 and are finally permanent residents after What s your background, work experience, etc.? Roger worked at GEICO for 42 years and retired as Director of Claims Training & Education. Susan retired from the Frederick County Public Library System as a Circulation Dept. Supervisor. We have always loved to dance (as does our kids and grandkids) the lindy, cha-cha, twist, stroll, pony, disco-you name it...but never heard of the SHAG until we moved to N.C. We have taken lessons for 2 years and still have a long way to go, but we truly enjoy the dancing and have met some wonderful people who we hope to continue a lasting friendship.
