Thank you to everyone that supported this event Valley Rovers Teenage Workshops Valley Rovers would like to introduce our new Teenage Workshops, which will be run by Fiachra Lynch (B.Sc. I.I.P.T. Physical Therapist). The objectives of the workshops are to provide our players, with the knowledge that will enable them to become better players and athletes. The workshops will cover the following topics, - Injury Prevention - Nutrition - Strength & Conditioning - Importance of Rest - Stretching Techniques - Mechanics of Running These workshops will take place on Monday nights and are open to players aged 13 to 18 years, venue and time to be finalised. Can parents who are interested in their children availing of these workshops, please contact your team mentor ASAP, so that venue, time and cost, can be finalised. Valley Rovers would encourage all players to avail of these workshops, as we feel every player will benefit from Fiachra s professional knowledge. We are initially looking at four nights Oct 12th & 19th, Nov 2nd & 9th, but would hope to continue the workshops going forward. Page 2 of 5
County Minor Quarter Final Result - Valley Rovers 5-13 St. Marys' (Liscarroll) 02-05. Valleys Rovers won this quarter final match played in Brinny on Sunday 4th October, versus St. Mary's, in what ended up being a one sided contest. Leading at half time 2-07 to 0-04, Valley's made good use of the strong wind that was in their favour during this half. Very good support play by the Valleys team saw them carve out this lead. There was a backlash expected at the start of the 2nd half but Valley's continued where they left off from the first half and finished strongly to win comprehensively. Scores: Daire Kiely 2-03, Emer Kiely 1-03 (1 pt free), Kate Bernard 1-03, Lisa Lynch 1-00, Jennifer Murphy 0-01, Grace O'Reilly 0-01, Sinead Dart O'Flynn 0-01, Ciara Murphy 0-01. School Coaching Position Valley Rovers are seeking coaches to co-ordinate and deliver a high quality coaching programme for Valley Rovers, that increases participation and performance in both Hurling and Football in a positive Fun environment to the pupils (both boys & girls) of the four National Schools within the Parish (Innishannon NS, Knockavilla NS, Castlelack NS and Gurranes NS). It is envisaged that the successful applicants will coach Hurling and Football skills on a class by class basis for approx. 5/6 hours per week. A successful Applicant would need to satisfy the following criteria: 1. Must have completed the leaving certificate. 2. At a minimum must have completed the Foundation level Gaelic Games training course. 3. Must be Garda vetted.
