September Meeting - Guest Speaker Deep Dropping Jason 'Birdy' Bird is a well-known author and correspondent from Bush'n'Beach magazine. As a prominent fisho in SEQ, known to many in the Game and Sportfishing circles, he publicly specialises in catching squid, chasing natives in the dams and rivers and more recently unravelling the mysteries of the deep. Jason will be joining us at our September General meeting Monday 10 th September to give a presentation on 'deep dropping', and the methods he has found that give him results. As many of our members have been dabbling in this in the past year or so, it would be great to hear his stories on what works for him and to compare notes. Please come along (and bring your mates) for what will be a very enlightening and entertaining evening. Cheers RPG&SC Inc. Committee 4

Weigh Master s Report Another great Monthly Club Barbeque afternoon, for our August weigh-in, with clear and sunny weather but a howling, cold wind that put a bit of a dampener on proceedings. The wind was so bad we couldn t light the barby, so we settled for hot chips. It was fantastic to see a good turnout of members and a few fish to weigh in. Fortunately Saturday was a fantastic day and a few of us got out for the day. I was on board Andiamo. We tried a few closer spots then headed out for some deep dropping. In close we caught some Pearlies but more than half of them went back to grow a few more centimetres. The only fish we caught out deep were Green Eyed Sharks, often coming up two at a time. A beautiful calm day with a few whales performing for us. Salty Nuts was out there too with Johnny Eagle bringing back the heaviest of their Pearlies. No Bream were caught so John collected the cash for this month with his Pearly. Next month (September) our species are Snapper ($50) and Whiting ($150). It will be worth having a try for some Whiting so get out there and enjoy the warmer weather, I hope you bring in heaps of fish for the weigh in. Cheers. Ralph Bowler 9
