You will be able to access the directory from your computer, tablet and phone. 8 th Grade Visits to High Schools The 8 th grade students will have the opportunity to visit Vincentian Academy on October 2 nd from 9:00 AM 1:30 PM. The students will have the opportunity to visit Central Catholic and Oakland Catholic on October 9 th from 9:15 AM 1:30. We are looking for available dates for the students to visit Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School and St. Joseph High School. Upcoming Assembly on Internet Safety and Cyber Bullying Mr. Philip Little from the Pennsylvania Attorney General s office will be at St. Mary School on October 15 th to present a program on internet safety and cyber bullying. This assembly will be tailored to meet the needs of our students in grades K-4 and 5-8. BOX TOP CONTEST! Keep Collecting those Box Tops for Education! Included in this newsletter on page 8 is Box Top Collection Sheet. Feel free to use another collection sheet if you have your own or find one online. Picture Day St. Mary School picture day is Monday, October 5 th. Look for the order form that will be sent home the week of September 28 th. Grades Preschool-8 will be included. Scrip Corner Many of our gift cards can be used at several locations. Did you know our Walmart gift cards can be used at Sam s Club? Here are a few others: Only Box Tops glued or taped to a collection sheet will count towards the contest. Bonus Box Tops can be submitted but should be stapled or paper clipped to the collection sheet. Homeroom contest runs from Mon 9/14-Fri 9/18. The homeroom that turns in the most Box Tops will receive a dress down day on September 30, 2015. PTG NEWS There has been a lot going on with your PTG this week. Have you downloaded Shoparoo yet? We already have close to 10,000 points, which equates to $20. Keep snapping those receipts and earning our school money. It is so easy. Just click and earn. We are also getting ready for an exciting night in the hopes of raising money from our parish members. It is called A Night with the Oldies and it is taking place on October 17, 2015. There will be food, a D.J., raffles, and more. We are asking school families to donate a bottle of spirits that can be raffled off as part of our Baskets of Cheer. Donations can be brought to the school office. Please see the attached flyer for more information about what is sure to be a very fun evening. Tickets are on sale now! Other important dates to remember: October 7- PTG meeting, Providence Hall 6:30pm (child care provided) October 13-15- Scholastic Book Fair October 17- A Night with the Oldies (see attached flyer Shoparoo! Do you have an I-Phone or an Android? Are you interested in an easy way to earn money for our school where you do not have to buy, sell, or donate anything? Then you need to download Shoparoo!! Shoparoo is an app that allows you to take pictures of your receipts in order to earn points. Those points equate to dollars and at the end of the year Shoparoo will send our school a check. It s easy. All you have to do is Shop, Snap, Earn. All receipts count. This year PTG is going to encourage as many people as possible to download this app and start logging points. If you are not comfortable using the app, you can always send your receipts into the office in an envelope labeled for PTG. We will simply log them into one of our accounts. Raise Some Dough St. Mary s Benefit Night On Tuesday, September 29 th call the Pasquale s Pizzeria closest to your home and use one of the coupons on the flyer included with this newsletter on page 8. Fire Safety Day On Thursday, October 2 nd members of the Middle Road Volunteer Fire Department will be visiting our school to speak to the students about Fire Safety. The preschool through 3rd grade will be having a tour of the fire truck. The 4 th through eighth grade will learn about kitchen fire safety. September 4, 2015 Page 4 of 8
