Website: http://www.unclecarls.org July 2015 This and That from Julie Well, we had the campout at Waffle Farm. It rained, and rained, and did I mention that it rained? BUT...it didn't stop us from having fun! We jammed in the big pavilion pretty much the entire time. TOO WET to play anywhere else. We learned 2 new songs...viola's Schottische & Washington Square. Can't wait to try them out with the whole club. It was a nice surprise to see that the Waffle Farm had TOTALLY finished the pavilion along with a ceiling...woohoo...no MORE BIRD POOP! The campers seemed to enjoy us entertaining them. It's nice to hear from the crowd that they chose this weekend because they knew we were going to be there! AND they're planning on being there next year too! We have fans:) We had 29 for the potluck, a real low number compared to other years. I KNOW it had a lot to do with the weather. There was plenty of food to go around. The breakfast went great. We had plenty of help for both set up AND clean up (always a good thing)! A special thank you to Bob and Sandy for bringing all the food and cooking gear for the breakfast. Also a thank you to ALL the cooks...don, Dave, Bob, and a hearty THANK YOU to ALL the helpers. You know who you are. Pat yourself on the back. Last of all to Kathy Culy for getting us our reservations. Now it's time to get on to the festivals...evart and Midland. Seems this summer is going fast! Take time and brush up on songs you like but need work on. Learning a new song or embellishing on older tune is an accomplishment. Remember, one measure at a time. Make it simple, have a good time. See you at Evart! Workshop Corner by Christine Stewart Barb seems to have a fun time wherever she goes. Rainy campout included. No workshop planned this month! Whew! But wait! Evart is this month! A great place to find new songs, (and brush up on previously learned but not often played songs). Your mission, should you choose to accept it: listen for a fun, pretty, challenging song, learn it, and bring it back to the club and workshop it! Let's get some new workshop teachers this year. As always, I disavow all knowledge of your actions. This blurb will self destruct in 20 years. Music Books by Pennye Scheiber Are your music books up to date? If not, please see the latest list of UCDC tunes in this newsletter. Use this list to update your book. Don t have all the music? Check our website for tunes since 2007 that you can print for yourself. Tunes missing from before that time or a copyrighted one? Contact me and I can send you a PDF copy via email. This is the list that we play from, so it s always good to have an extra copy on hand to help you choose a tune. Good time to update your tablet too. Dropbox has them all.151 songs to date!
