12 th 15 th October 2017 Pre Conduction Report Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is organizing 14th edition of its Annual Sports Festival, UDGHOSH 2017 from 12 th - 15 th October 2017. Udghosh has now officially become the largest inter college sports festival of India witnessing over 2300 participants from all across the country including almost all the prestigious colleges of the country like IITs, IIMs, NITs and other prestigious colleges. THEME: TRACING THE ROOTS History never says goodbye, it never says see you later, all it says is welcome to my world. From European Football to Sub-continental Cricket, from Indian Kabaddi to French Tennis, where ever you be, whatever you see, every other sport has a history to unfold and a story to unleash. Backed upon the theme Tracing the Roots, team Udghosh takes you through the days when your favourite sports were having their first cry. Sports Quiz MARATHON: Run for A Cause To celebrate the spirit of sports and to spread the message of our Social Cause of cleanliness to promote Swachh Bharat Mission, a marathon will be conducted at 6 AM on 15 th October 2017.
INFORMAL EVENTS Under Informals, we bring for you a plethora of the craziest, the wackiest and the most random events, providing entertainment in myriad forms. This is the platform that brings together performers and spectators that is characterized by insane, topsy-turvy scheme of things which is accompanied by a lot of excitement and amusement from mind boggling scavenger hunt to the challenging Human Foosball. Loads of goodies are at stake in these events. All of the events will be conducted on the festival ground. The following events will be organized under informals in two categories: ADVENTURE VILLA Following are the adventurous informal sports which will be conducted this year during Udghosh: Zorb Football Human Foosball Paintball Sumo Wrestling Archery FUNZONE These events will be conducted from 2 places: Informals Desk/Stalls and Informals Stage. Informals Stage: A series of events will be conducted from the informals stage including question rounds, fun challenges and small talent rounds. A proper schedule will be followed for the conduction of these events. Informals Stalls: A number of events will be conducted in stalls set up for informal events near the stage which would be conducting small games like balloon games and twister which will be operational throughout the time of the informal events. This not only shows the efforts Udghosh is making to make the city develop but also shows the huge number of support that participants showed to run for the sake of a clean city. With the theme of 'Swachh Bharat' Udghosh claims it's proud effort to create an event like Marathon which was successful enough to spread the awareness towards a cleaner future. This run was not just only a run to participate in the event for free prizes but a run to prove the zeal of making Kanpur one of the best. CYCLOTHON Udghosh in its part understands its role to develop the society and hence is putting all the efforts into it for the same cause. It has organized a number of events and competition to establish its concern with the development of society and accomplish social and physical goals. Cyclothon being one of them was the cycling competition organized by Udghosh held among the early morning birds and for all age groups. Motto was to encourage pollution free environment and healthy living. IIT Kanpur was blessed to have Miss Nuzhat Parween as the Chief Guest. UDAAN: SPORTS FOR DIFFERENTLY ABLED This year Udghosh has strived to pledge for the society in all possible ways. A series of new events are being introduced which incorporates opportunities for differently abled participants to represent themselves as a part of the sports society. HOSPITALITY Our pre estimation of the participants is been made around 2050 participants (Subject to Accommodation). Permissions for all the type quarters, Hall Common Rooms, VH extension etc is already given by the respective authorities. Desk is being set up at Railway Station, Kanpur. VH, VH Extension, CC-1, CC-2, Hall Guest Rooms and B,C,F Wings of Hall 13 will be used for the stay of the Incoming Faculty and Referees from respective colleges. This year we are keeping central messing for all the participants in Hall-1 grounds since the Hall messes are already overburdened. And we are setting up separate central messing for referees, coaches and incoming faculties from colleges in Hall-1 parking lot. The Hospitality desk will be set up in the New SAC and all the registration and other grievances will be addressed from here. Registration Fees from all the participants is 1500 per head and security fees is 200 per head (refundable). This year we have introduced Cashless Registration Process, giving option of online traction before the festival along with PAS at the time of reporting. RULES AND REGULATIONS General Code of Conduct Participants must carry their college Identity Cards and Udghosh I-card at all times during the festival and should produce the same on demand. In case of loss of Udghosh I-card, an amount of 500 would have to be paid to get a duplicate I-card issued. Consumption of liquor or any other intoxicant, Smoking, or performance enhancing drugs are strictly prohibited. The Security cell bears no responsibility for the loss or theft of any of the belongings of the participants. Everyone is requested to take care of your own belongings during stay. Any kind of indiscipline and harassment during any time of the meet shall lead to strict disciplinary actions against the contingent concerned. The decision of the Security cell and the UDGHOSH 17 Team shall be final and binding to all in this regard. Code of Conduct at the Arenas For participants: All the rules and regulations of the game should be adhered to. Participants should cooperate with the security teams and security guards present at the arenas to conduct the games peacefully. For Spectators: Any negative/ obscene remarks aimed against an individual/team will not be tolerated and will result in strict action against the contingent concerned. Code of Conduct at the place of accommodation Non-IITK Male participants are not allowed to enter girl s accommodations (halls and quarters). Non-IITK Female participants can visit the boy s hostel from 6 am to 11:59 pm with confinement to central quadrangle, mess and canteen. Entry in the accommodation room is strictly prohibited. Participants should not damage any hall property. Participants should observe the rules and regulations of the respective places of accommodation. Cooperate with respective Hall Executive Committees and Hall residents.

Safety and Security Measures Entry will begin 45 min prior to show. Fire Brigade and ambulance will be present during shows to handle emergency situation. Camera, Bags and any potential hazardous items will not be allowed inside the venue. Patrol during nights and also at the time of pro-night shows.
