Meet the Staff: Ms. Clevenger Ms. Clevenger was interviewed by April Juen. What is your job here at Oltman? "I am the Behavior Specialist." Where are you from? "I am from Rock Falls, Illinois. Where did you go to school? "I went to Western Illinois University. What were you like in Middle School? "I was talkative, sassy, funny, and the class clown. What is your favorite part of working at Oltman? "I like the staff and the students. What kind of music to you listen to? I like classic rock, punk, Indie rock, and old-school rap. What are your student pet peeves? Students not taking ownership for their behavior (lying). Meet the Staff: Ms. Heerdt Maddy Cone interviewed Ms. Heerdt. What is your job here at Oltman? "I am the counselor for 7th grade and A-L of 8th Grade. What were you like in Middle School? "I was unique and strived to be myself even when others couldn t appreciate it. I had two friends but that is okay. Don t be someone you re not! What is your favorite part of working at Oltman? Interacting with the students." What are your hobbies outside of school? "I am a Minnesota Roller Girl. I skate with the Dagger Dolls team. I also just made the Minnesota Roller Girls All Star team, so I will be traveling around the country playing roller derby this summer. Where are you from? "I am from Hector, Minnesota. My father was the mayor and a teacher. Where did you go to school/college? "I went to the University of WI - River Falls. What are your student pet peeves? When they are unkind. Meet the Staff: Mrs. Hill Sam Schmidt interviewed Mrs. Hill. What is your job here at Oltman? "I m the school counselor for 6th grade and M-Z of 8th grade. What were you like in Middle School? "I was a tomboy, a good student, and hilarious. What are your hobbies outside of school? Reading, baking, and spending time with family. What is your favorite part of working at Oltman? I love that it is unpredictable and every day is different. I help kids navigate life. Where are you from? I am from Virginia, about 20 minutes outside of D.C.. What is kind of music do you listen to? A little bit of everything but usually old-school hip hop and R&B. By Corgan J. Wilson The Red vs. The Blue Once upon a time, there was a lonely Queen. The Queen always sat on the table and waited for someone to come up and talk to her. Sadly, no one ever came. Until one day, a small man came up to her and showed her the way through the forest to Uganda. On the way a small blue creature just like the other came up to them. The blue creature had more of the blue creatures behind him. said. We must protect da kween my bruddas! The blue creature No! Dis is my kween! The red creature said. With wat army? The blue creature exclaimed. Then.. the red creature started to do its call to warn the others. *Clucking*...Silence..then, out of nowhere.. thousands and thousands of red creatures came and attacked the blue creatures. The red creatures said they were taking the Queen to Uganda. Then, the war happened.. The Red v.s The Blue. THE END Have a great day! 3

Book and Music Recommendations Love and First Sight by Josh Sundquist Recommendation written by Sam Schmidt Love and First Sight is about Will Porter, a sixteen year old boy who was born blind. After spending all of his life in a blind school, Will decides to go to a normal school to become more independent. Within his first day he already made a girl cry from accidentally staring at her. That's one reason why Will is considering a life-altering surgery that could potentially let him be able to see. Read to find out about whether or not Will is able to see. Song Recommendations Recommendation written by April Juen All of Me By: John Legend All of Me is sung by John Legend. All of Me is a really good song to jam out to with your friends. Or in front of a window so your neighbor can look at you like a creep. John Legend has made many song so maybe you can check them out. Oltman s Musical Aladdin, Jr. By Aladdin, Jr. Cast Member This year at Oltman the theatre group will be performing Aladdin Jr. This musical is showy and colorful, with plenty of humor and seriousness all in one. Featuring flashy performances and dance pieces such as Friend Like Me and Prince Ali, you ll get to see a bright and engaging spectacle. Being the last show at the old building, we ve gone all out with this production - an over-the-top set, colorful outfits, and fun dances. We hope that you ll come see and enjoy the show! 4

THE OLTMAN TIMES MARCH 7, 2018 After-School Club Updates - Ski Club By Corgan Wilson In Ski Club, they go to Afton on Thursdays for five different times. Mrs. Rugless is in charge of Ski Club. You don t have to bring your own stuff if you don t want to or you don t have any; they have stuff there for you. You can also take lessons there if you don t know how to ski. You get to have fun with friends. Parker Knauff is a beast at skiing. -Parker Knauff It s great because I like the fun of it, especially the terrain parts where you do jumps and boxes. -Shea Maloney Oltman Sports Spotlight - Basketball By Kas Bradley Kas interviewed Coach Myles about the basketball season. I like how fast paced it is! -Bronson Stachowiak Q: What are some of the best qualities of the team? A: They re hardworking, they have fun as the get better each week and they play well as a team. Q: What makes coaching the team fun? A: Working with kids is fun, and coaching sports is fun. It s a part of working with kids. Q: What teams do you play? A: We played Lake, Woodbury, Roseville, and Centennial. Great job to all the Oltman basketball players! 5

Jokes of the Month Q- Why do people wear shamrocks on March 17th? A- Because regular rocks are too heavy. Q-What do you get if you cross poison ivy with a four-leaf clover? A- A rash of good luck. Q- Why are leprechauns so hard to get along with? A- Because they are short-tempered. Q- Why do leprechauns like to recycle? A- Because they like to go green. Q- Why can t you iron a four-leaf clover? A- Because you can t press your luck. Q- Why did the leprechauns climb over the rainbow? A- To get to the other side.
