AGM Minutes Good Evening and welcome from the Club President Review of 2014 AGM Review by the Chairman, all greed as okay. Chairman s Report The 2015 Cricket Season was, arguably, the most successful in living memory. I use the term advisedly as those who think they can remember anything better are now pretty ancient and have memories gilded by the years. None of the present side were even born all those years ago, so onto 2015, Fielding three teams every weekend, and with Junior sides in every age group from seven to seventeen, cricket in the village flourished. Both the 1 st and 2 nd teams reached dizzy heights in their respective leagues (the 2 nd XI were promoted) and the Sunday XI provided a cheerful blend for the old, the young and the mentally challenged. Significantly many of today s stars began their cricketing days as Steep Juniors Dean Knight, Graham Hughes, Tom Callingham and Alex Bone, to name but four. The Captains of all three XIs John Smith, Ed Ellis and Jhon Cosgrove were all in shorts when they first graced our ranks.
The success of the Juniors owes much to these old boys (six of whom are now qualified coaches). They have helped to introduce over 400 local school children to the game though the charity Chance to Shine and nearly 100 of them have played in Steep teams including the adult sides, and in one case (Jack Campbell) representing Hampshire for his age group. Mention should also be made to the quality of Steep s wickets, which have earned us wide acclaim. In one weekend alone five centuries were recorded (including one double) and the total for the season was well into double figures. This is all the more creditable when we note that John Smith, who spends countless hours each week producing a paradise for batsman, is primarily a bowler. Of the many others who deserve a mention I would like to single out our Secretary, Ian Campbell, who has worked tirelessly with the youth teams and brought an unaccustomed efficiency to our administration, Mike Bugh ( The Enforcer ) who has extracted annual subs from all those of you who had mistakenly thought this was a voluntary donation, and Dave Elsey who continues to spend countless hours on the ground as he has done for well over sixty years. Thank you all for a summer to remember with pleasure. Treasurer s Report For once a relatively quiet season with the only real noticeable difference being that we managed to collect more in senior subscriptions this year than we did junior, thanks to Mike Bugh. We spent money on a new mobile net and invested a bit more again this year on improving the pitch for next season. We also gained more from the sponsorship banners around the ground. All in all the Club is financially sound moving into 2016.

Team Captain/s Reports 1 st Team A great season with the team finishing 4 th in the league. This season there was a spirit within the team that even when the odds were against us we never gave up, the batting line up in the home game v AWE Tadley chasing 316 and the away game at Hook and Newnham Basics. The bowlers and the fielders all contributing in other games. 2 nd Team A good season with the team also finishing 4 th in the league and gaining promotion. Some memorable games such as the tie against Hambledon and the home game v Servicemaster with L Prittipaul scoring 244. The future is looking good for next season with a lot more junior players ready to step up. Sunday side A really fun season with 43 players being used including 13 juniors.
Junior Section Report U7/9 Around 30 kids made up the U9 s this year, 75% came through the Chance to Shine project. The improvement made by pretty much all of the kids was amazing, some of them stepping up to play for the U11 s a year early. U11 Managed to play all matches, winning 1. Despite the results everyone had fun and there were lots of positive signs for 2015. U13 Played 4, winning 2 and losing 2. Fantastic achievement especially when in some games we only had 8 players. Looking forward to 2016 as there is a lot of talent in the squad. Had 1 player, play for the Sunday side. U15 Managed to play 3 league games, winning all 3. Also contributed players to all the senior teams. U17 Played 3 leagues matches, losing all 3. A very different story in the cup. The boys got to the Semi-Final of the Kerry Cup before losing to eventual winners Basingstoke and North Hants. Contributed players to the senior teams. Chance to Shine 400 children coached in 6 schools. 3 of them being new this year. Steep C C s Chance to Shine project goes from strength to strength and hopefully this will continue for years to come.
Fundraising Report We raised 1500 last season thanks to our sponsors buying banners. Unfortunately the Community Day was down and the Presidents match/day cancelled due to the weather. Well done to Dale for arranging the Race night incorporated into the Awards evening. Stoolball Report No report submitted.

2016 Subscriptions Senior subscriptions to remain the same for the 2016 season. After no change for 5 years the Junior subscriptions will be going up for the 2016 season. The new cost will be 40 for a single member and 60 for a sibling. Compared to other Clubs in the area and just over the hill this is still cheap and will help to go towards the new All Weather pitch. Club Mark Health Check This year the Club was up for reaccreditation and was deemed to meet all criteria and so we can have another 2½ years grace before our next reassessment.
Club Development Plan When the Junior section restarted one of the things the Club had to do was to gain ECB Club Mark accreditation. To earn this the Club had to meet a lot of criteria. A new Junior committee was set up and part of their role was to develop a 5 Year plan. There were 14 items listed in the Development Plan of which we have 3 left to complete:- Replace the current All Weather pitch Rebuild/upgrade the Pavilion Replace ageing Roller. To complete the Plan the items above will cost a lot of money, so we are working with a company called 4grants to help us with funding. The initial signs are very promising and if we do get the money we will probably not see the benefits until 2017. As a Club we still have a lot of work to do and need to raise lots of money. As members of the Club your help and support is vital especially as the Club is continually growing (see chart below) and we really need to get the 3 items above as a lot of it revolves around legislation. Chart showing 5 Year Growth of Junior Section Junior Section Growth 2015 2011 2012 2013 2014 2011 - U11/U13 2012 - U11/U13 2013 - U11/U13/U15 2014 - U9/U11/U13/U15 2015 - U9/11/13/15/17 2016- U7/U9/U11/U13/U15/U17/U19 The 2016 season will see the Club running age groups from U7 through to U19 s.
A.O.B Ian asked if anyone knew of any clubs or schools who would be interested in the use of the Pavilion/ground if we manage to get it updated. If so could they please get someone to contact either John Smith or Ian by e-mail. Next season we will be looking for more help with the jnr training, all we are asking is for people to help with sessions, it s easy and pretty good fun so if you can spare any time regularly or not please let us know. A big Steep Thank You to everyone who helped with the Club of the Month Day, especially Hampshire Cricket Club and Waitrose Petersfield. Next Committee meeting. Tuesday 9 th February, 7.30pm at the Harrow.
