Rules and Regulations Southwest District Livestock Show Feb. 17-20, 2016 Grady Co. Fairgrounds The Southwest District Show will follow exhibitor eligibility rules set by the Oklahoma Youth Expo (OYE). It states: Each junior exhibitor must be a bona fide member, in good standing, of an Oklahoma 4-H Club or FFA Chapter. Also eligible to show are 3rd Grade students, too young to enroll in a 4-H club, who were enrolled in the 3rd Grade at the beginning of the school year. Junior exhibitors who are in the third grade, but not yet old enough to enroll in 4-H, must have their nominations signed by an official from their school (e.g., Agriculture Education Teacher, Principal, Superintendent, Counselor) verifying the student was enrolled in the third grade at the beginning of the current (school) year. Market animals that are not nominated for OYE are NOT eligible to be exhibited at the Southwest District Show. Tags are not required to be in animals at time of exhibition, however, nominations can be checked if there is a question. Only counties in the Southwest Agricultural Education District in Oklahoma are eligible to compete. Those counties include: Beckham, Caddo, Canadian, Comanche, Cotton, Custer, Grady, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa, Roger Mills, Tillman, and Washita. All other counties are ineligible. Entries: Gilts and Barrows $23.00 Sheep $23.00 Goats $23.00 Beef Cattle $33.00 $2.00 will assist in the set-up, electricity, and facility usage. $1.00 will be for judges. The remainder of the entry fee will be returned to the top ½ of each class. General Rules for the Show Bedding: Exhibitors must furnish wood chips for the bedding of animals. Bedding must be commercial wood chips. No straw allowed in the barns. Pen Assignments: Pens will be pre-assigned. Pens are 5 and 6 and there MAY be up to 3 pigs per pen. You can bring your own panels and split the pens if you want. Disassembling of Pens: During the sheep and goat shows, pens MUST be left as they are when you arrive. DO NOT Disassemble pens. This creates problems for the other species as they arrive. Generators: Must be kept outside of the barns. Health Requirements: All swine must have a negative pseudorabies test After December 1, 2015 and they MUST be presented at the time of entry. Release: All animals are released as soon as they are through showing. All Livestock must leave the facilities within ONE HOUR of the completion of the Show. Animals must be in place at the time weights are due. No Call in Weights. Loading and Unloading Livestock will be loaded and unloaded in designated Livestock barn areas only. NO LIVESTOCK ON THE GROUNDS PRYOR TO 4:00 p.m. Tues. Feb. 16. All judges decisions are final No protests. Hampton Inn is the headquarters and a show sponsor for this year s show. You can call them at. Pre-registration is required postmarked Feb. 5. Entries must be paid in ( school, or cashiers), or money order. NO CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS! A late fee will be assessed at the show of $43.00 for swine, goats and sheep, $63.00 for Beef. There is no limit on the number of entries an exhibitor can enter or show. Friday, February 19 All Breed Champions will receive $50, Reserve Breed Champions will receive $35, and a Third-Best in Breed will be selected and will receive $25. Only breeds with 5 or more head will select a Third-Best in breed. Showmanship winners will be selected in each class during the show. Each showmanship winner will receive a cap. To be eligible, a class must have at least two exhibitors and exhibitors may only win one time per species. 9:30 a.m. Gilt cards due in the office 11:00 a.m. Gilt show begins 11:00 a.m. Berk, Chester, Poland, and Spot Barrow cards due in the office (Berk, Chester, Poland, and Spot Barrows will show Friday, 30 minutes after the conclusion of the gilt show.) 3:00 p.m. Remaining Barrow weigh cards are due in the office (Duroc, Hamp, Yorks, and Crosses) Saturday, February 20 8:00 a.m. Swine show begins with Duroc

Market Wethers Entry Fee is $23 per head. Lambs must have been nominated for OYE to be eligible to show. Breeds represented and show order will be: Haired Sheep, Southdown, Shrop, Dorset, Speckled Face, Hamp, Suffolk, Natural, and Cross. There will be a 5 pound weigh back from the top of the class. Weigh back top 3 of each class. Weigh cards are due in the office by 10:00 a.m. Wed. Feb. 17 Wethers will begin showing after the ewe show. There will be no classes of more than 16 head. No Paint Allowed in Sheep Show. Market Ewes Entry Fee is $23 per head Lambs must have been nominated for OYE to be eligible to show. There will be no breed representation in the market ewe show. All ewes will compete as one breed and classes broke according to weight. There will be a 5 pound weigh back from the top of the class. Weigh back the top 3 of each class. Weigh cards for ewes are due Wed. Feb. 17, 9:00 a.m. Ewe show will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the wethers There will be no classes of more than 16 head. No Paint Allowed in the Sheep Show. There will be a Grand and Reserve Grand Heifer selected. Show order will be alphabetical. Heifer Papers must be presented to the office Wed. Feb. 17 by 5:00 p.m. The following breeds have sponsors and will be represented: Miniature Hereford, Lowline, Angus, Chianina, Hereford, Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Maintainer, Charolais, Percentage Charolais, Red Angus, Shorthorn, Shorthorn Plus, Simmental, Simmental Influence and Commercial/AOB. All heifers must have registration papers with the exception of Commercial heifers, which must have registration papers or a breeder s verification of parentage, exhibitor s name, and birth date. Commercial heifers will be shown with the AOB heifers. No Glue will be used in Heifer show. No trailers around cattle barns to load out steers during Heifer show. Do not wash cattle between the center and south barn aisle.

No cattle Tie-out to the decorative perimeter fence of the fairgrounds. Only New Breeds to any species show can be exhibited with confirmed sponsorship one year prior approval. Market Goats Entry fee is $23 per head All goats must have been nominated for the OYE to be eligible to show. Bracing: Bracing will be allowed in the wether goat division. There will be a 5 lb. weigh back from the top of the class. Weigh back the top three in each class Weigh cards are due in the office by 11:00 a.m. Wed. Feb. 17. Market Goat show will begin immediately following the Doe goats. Goat Does Entry fee is $23 per head All does must have been nominated for OYE or provide registration papers to be eligible to show. Bracing: Bracing of doe kids will not be tolerated and result in dismissal by the judge or superintendent. Doe kids must have all four feet on the ground. Doe kids must be shown with a collar/chain used only to control the animal. Exhibitor can only transiently touch the animal with his body. Exhibitor cannot use the collar to make the animal tense her muscles. Any violation will result in dismissal. There will be a 5 lb. weigh back from the top of the class. Weigh cards are due in the office by Wed. 10:00 a.m. Feb. 17. Breeding Gilts Entry fee is $23 per head Swine Exhibitors must have a premise I.D. number. Registration papers and weights for commercial gilts are due in the office by 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19. Gilts will show separate from barrows on Fri. Feb. 19 at 11:00 a.m. Gilts will show as Breeding Gilts. All swine must have a negative pseudorabies test after Dec. 1, 2015. Pseudo papers must be presented at time of entry. All swine must have been nominated for the OYE to be eligible to show. Purebred gilts show order will be: Berk, Chester, Duroc, Hamp, Hereford, Poland, Spot, and York. Purebred gilt classes will be broke by age. Purebred gilts born between August 1 and September 30 are eligible to show. Commercial gilt classes will be broke by weight. All purebred gilts must have pedigrees and/or proof of transfer to be eligible to show as purebreds. Gilts without pedigrees may show in the commercial class. The decision of the Swine Supt. is final. All commercial gilts must weigh within 10 lbs. of the 200-325 weight range. No gilts weighing less that 190 will be permitted to show. All purebred champions and the commercial champion will compete for overall Grand Champion Gilt. All commercial gilts must weigh within 10 lbs. from the top of the class. Will weigh back the top three in each class. Not more than 25 head per class. Market Barrows Entry fee is $23 per head. Swine Exhibitors must have a premise I.D. number All swine must have a negative pseudorabies test after Dec. 1, 2015. Pseudo papers must be presented at time of entry. All swine must have been nominated for the OYE to be eligible to show. All barrows must weigh within 10 lbs. of the 200-280 weight range. No barrows weighing less than 190 will be permitted to show. Breeds represented: Berk, Chester, Duroc, Hamp, Poland, Spot, York, and Crossbred. Weigh back will be 10 pounds from the top of the class. Weigh cards for the Berks, Chesters, Poland, and Spots are due 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19. The Berks, Chesters, Poland, and Spots will show 30 minutes from the conclusion of the gilt show. Weigh back the top three in each class. Not more than 25 head per class.
