In Times Of War trainer Mr C Waller advised that the mare had now been retired. Alassio co-trainer Mr A Bott advised that upon return to the stables, the mare underwent a thorough veterinary examination and was found to be lame in the off hind leg. Mr Bott further advised that Alassio will now be spelled and as such, no further action was taken. HAWKESBURY: Sunday, 15 July 2018 RACE 4 Mr Taxman F&M Maiden Handicap 1300m Fertile Soil stable representative Mr J Bruce advised that Fertile Soil will now be spelled. RACE 1 #Theraces Handicap 1200m Stone slow to begin. Star of the Seas slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed a small amount of blood present in the nearside nostril. An endoscopic examination confirmed a small amount of blood present in the nearside nostril, however there was no evidence to suggest this was as a result of exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage. After interviewing rider H Bowman, who indicated Star Of The Seas became somewhat fractious in the barriers and made contact with the front of the gates, bearing in mind the results of the endoscopic examination, the Stewards found that the blood present was due to an external trauma and as such, no further action was taken. Shakhan slow to begin and then shortly after the start shifted in making contact with the hindquarters of Salvador resulting in both horses becoming momentarily unbalanced. Salvador raced keenly in the early stages. Salvador was held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Smartypy when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider B Shinn stated that the filly travelled well in the lead throughout the early and middle stages. He added that when placed under pressure in the home straight, Smartypy commenced to lay in and was disappointing in the manner in which it finished the race off. He added that in his opinion, Smartypy may not have run out the distance of today's race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have been galloped on on the off hind leg. Stable representative Mr J Bruce expressed disappointment with the performance of the filly. Mr Bruce undertook to report back on the progress of the filly in the days subsequent and also on Smartypy's immediate racing future.
RACE 2 Exosphere Standing At Darley Sprint 1200m La Lude the declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable the connections of the fourth placegetter to view the official patrol films. When the connections declined to proceed with an objection and Stewards were of the same opinion, correct weight was declared. Inside the 100m, La Lude was inconvenienced by Echo Gem, which shifted out. Osorno began awkwardly and lost ground, then from a wide barrier, was shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Osorno laid out rounding the home turn. Republic raced wide and without cover for the majority of the race. Misteed passing the 800m, was eased to avoid the heels of Echo Gem (App R King), which shifted in when not clear. App King was advised to exercise more care. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider K McEvoy stated that his mount raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages and he attributed this to the filly failing to finish its race off today. He said that although Misteed had not raced since 6 June 2018, he was confident of the horse's chances today following a satisfactory gallop at Randwick on Saturday morning. A post race veterinary examination revealed Misteed to be slow to recover. Designer Maid when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, App J Van Overmeire stated that the filly was slow to begin, however it was able to improve forward and assume the lead approaching the 900m. He added that the filly raced keenly throughout the middle stages and when under pressure in the home straight, Designer Maid became awkward in its action, was inclined to lay in and was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post race veterinary examination revealed Designer Maid to be slow to recover. The Stewards will follow up with the post race condition of Designer Maid in the days subsequent. Onthetake was held up rounding the home turn and did not obtain clear running until passing the 200m where it shifted to the outside of La Lude. Trainer Ms C Cunningham was fined $100 under LR35(2) for failing to declare J Collett as the rider of the filly by the prescribed time. RACE 3 TAB Handicap 1600m Lady Evelyn when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider K O'Hara stated that due to the tempo of the race, her mount came under pressure from the 600m, however it did not respond to her riding from this point and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed Lady Evelyn to be lame (1/5) in the off hind leg. Trainer Mr J Deamer was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare racing again. Wide Spread Panic when questioned, rider L Magorrian stated that he was instructed to lead on the filly. He said that after beginning well, his mount was pressured in the early stages by Live To Dream and as a result, Wide Spread Panic commenced to race keenly. He added that he was aware the tempo of the race throughout the early stages was solid and for this reason, approaching the 1200m, he took hold of his mount in an attempt to get the filly to settle. He said that Wide Spread Panic did not respond to his efforts in restraining and continued to race keenly throughout the early and middle stages and as such, was left without a finishing effort. Artistic Beauty when questioned regarding the performance, App J Van Overmeire stated that in his opinion, the mare raced flat today. A post race veterinary examination revealed Artistic Beauty to be lame (2/5) in the near hind leg. Trainer Mr C Crockett advised that Artistic Beauty will now be retired. Acting on this assurance, no further action was taken. RACE 4 Winter Racing Handicap 1400m Redemption Road after being slow to begin, was checked shortly after the start between Island Missile and Versetto, which shifted out.
Miss Imagination began awkwardly. Spanish Dream was bumped on jumping by Prophet s Voice, which began awkwardly and shifted out. Island Missile was held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Divine Breeze when questioned, rider J Parr stated that his instructions were to have the filly race prominently, however after being slow to begin, Divine Breeze stumbled shortly after the start and lost ground. He said that as a result, Divine Breeze raced in a position worse than midfield further back than what he had intended. J Parr added that although caught wide and without cover throughout the event, Divine Breeze never travelled satisfactorily throughout the event and making the turns passing the 1000m and again rounding the home turn, the filly became awkward in its action and lost ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed Divine Breeze to have a poor recovery. Trainer Mr M Newnham was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again. Versetto a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 5 TAB Rewards Handicap 2200m Kentucky Diva the Stewards permitted rider B Avdulla to ride the mare 1kg over its allotted weight of 53kgs. Kentucky Diva, passing the 150m, was steadied when crowded by Follow Suit (H Bowman), which shifted in. H Bowman was reprimanded. Prescience slow to begin, then from a wide barrier was shifted in behind runners shortly after the start. Prescience, approaching the 500m, was eased when crowded between Cormac and Follow Suit, both of which shifted ground. Seababe raced wide and without cover throughout the early stages before being allowed to stride forward and lead near the 1200m. Cormac raced wide and without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure from the 600m. Follow Suit held up rounding the home turn. Latin Light held up rounding the home turn. Celtic Love inside the 200m, had to be checked when crowded between Follow Suit and Kentucky Diva (B Avdulla), which after establishing a narrow run momentarily between Celtic Love and Shock Alert (App J Van Overmeire), was taken out slightly by Short Alert, which shifted out. In all the circumstances, App J Van Overmeire was reprimanded. The Stewards advised B Avdulla that whilst a narrow had presented between Shock Alert and Celtic Love, he should at all times ensure there is sufficient room when attempting to improve in similar circumstances. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Allcash was held up rounding the home turn and did not obtain clear running until passing the 200m whereby the gelding was shifted to the outside of Cormac to continue into clear running. Shock Alert a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 6 Half Yearly Membership Handicap 1300m Profiler began awkwardly. Brogue slow to begin. Love s A Fantasy began awkwardly and lost ground. Love's A Fantasy, when closing the race off, approaching the 100m, was briefly held up on the heels of the weakening Masterati.
Sacred Edge from its outside barrier, was shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Tswalu raced wide and without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed Tswalu to be lame (1/5) in the near hind leg. Trainer Mr D Pfieffer advised that the mare would now be retired and acting on this assurance no further action was taken. Elle A Walking laid in under pressure in the straight. Tenorino passing the 250m, was shifted to the outside of Tswalu to continue into clear running. Tonsor laid out under pressure over the final 200m. Coolotta App R Hunt dropped her whip passing the 200m. Trainer G Murray will be interviewed relative to the improved performance of the gelding. Masterati when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider J Ford stated Masterati travelled well throughout the early and middle stages, however when the tempo increased from the 600m, his mount did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 7 Kermadec Standing At Darley Mile 1600m Takewing slow to begin. Balmain Boy began awkwardly. Atraxia from its wide barrier was shifted in behind runners in the early stages. Curragh near the 1000m, shifted in, made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. Curragh was held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight before shifting to the inside of Gauguin passing the 350m to continue into clear running. Dylan s Romance raced keenly throughout the middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Hammond Lane raced wide and without cover throughout and then approaching the 600m, when Shalmaneser shifted to the outside of Intueri, Hammond Lane was taken wider rounding the home turn. Shalmaneser was briefly held up rounding the home turn. Valentino Rossa approaching the 300m, after initially being taken out by Dylan s Romance, was then shifted out and away from that runner and had to be steadied when awkwardly positioned close to the heels of Curragh. GENERAL: Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Homework, Salvador (2), Shakhan, Smartypy. Race 2: Lucand Lad, Misteed, Onthetake, Republic, Designer Maid, Echo Gem. Race 3: The Iron Maiden, Classic Thoughts, Artistic Beauty, Mollyfied. Race 4: Redemption Road, Prophet s Voice, Buffy, Miss Imagination, Spanish Dream, Mad Fox. Race 5: Shock Alert, Celtic Love, Prescience, Latin Light, Kentucky Diva, All Cash. Race 6: Maserati, Tonsor (2), Sacred Edge, Cop A Nip, Elle A Walking. Race 7: Curragh, Trafalgar, Atraxia, Gravitate, Intueri.
