Would you like to interview a pro athlete in front of thousands of fans? If yes, then the KidCaster program is your chance. If you are between 6 14 years old, come to City Hall Plaza in downtown Boston, on Friday, May 20 th to tryout for this once in-a-lifetime opportunity. The Boston Lobsters, USA Tennis New England, Tenacity, the Boston Centers for Youth and Families and other special guests will host a tennis party on the Plaza that includes games, tennis, music and more during the auditions. Everyone is invited, even if you do not want to audition! Luke Jensen, a Grand Slam French Open Doubles Champion, ESPN television announcer and all around cool dude, will host the event. The lucky winners will be invited to interview Boston s newest professional sports team The Lobsters on center court in front of a packed house at Harvard s Bright Arena. The Lobsters are part of World TeamTennis. You can find out more about the team on the web at www.bostonlobsters.net. The winners (and their families) will be the VIP guests of the Lobsters that evening which includes great seats and Lobster souvenir gear but without the claws and tail! Sound interesting? Then this is what you need to do: First, get your parents signature on the release form we have attached to this e-mail. Second, practice the attached 20-second audition script that you will read in front the judges. Third, come out to City Hall Plaza at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 20 th to register. Fourth, enjoy the tennis party and have fun! The event will conclude around 6 p.m. A panel of celebrity judges will pick the winners. 2005 World TeamTennis Boston Lobsters KidCaster Competition OFFICIAL RULES 1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. To enter the competition, each child must fill out (with the assistance of their parent or legal guardian) an Official 2005 WTT Boston Lobsters KidCaster Competition Audition Sheet on May 20, 2005 (the day of the competition) at the registration table located at Boston City Hall Plaza in Boston, MA.. Each contestant will be given a 20-second script that the child will read aloud during the judging (see Rule 3 below). No mechanically reproduced entries or facsimiles allowed. Sponsor (see Rule 7 below) is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, misdirected, mutilated, or incomplete entries. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. Each contestant s parent/guardian must sign their child s Audition Sheet in order for their child to compete in the competition. 2. CONTESTANT ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to all children between the ages of 6 and 14 years (as of May 20, 2005), who are legal U.S. residents, but excluding family or household members of any employee World TeamTennis, Inc., any World TeamTennis franchisee, the Boston Lobsters or any of their respective sales representatives, distributors, advertising or promotion agencies, subsidiaries, affiliates, or parent companies. Limit one entry per child. 3. JUDGING: During the competition, the emcee will call each contestant to the stage using their official KidCaster number. The contestant will then read the 20-second script provided at registration (see Rule 1 above). Contestants are not required to read the script exactly as written and are encouraged to add their own creative touches to the script. Each contestant will have up to 1 minute to read their script. The competition will be judged by persons appointed by the WTT Boston Lobsters whose decisions will be final in all matters relating to this competition. Each contestant s reading will be judged on the following three criteria: (1) creativity, (2) poise; and (3) delivery. Judges will use a rating scale of 1 to 10 for each criterion with one being the lowest (poor) score and ten the highest (best) score. The contestant with the highest score earned in all 3 criteria categories combined based on all contestant reading auditions performed at Boston City Hall Plaza on May 20, 2005 will be determined to be the winner of this local competition. In the event of a tie, the contestant with the highest-ranking score in creativity will be the winner. If a tie remains, the contestant with the highest ranking in poise will be the winner. If a tie remains, the contestant with the highest ranking in delivery will be the winner. If a tie still remains, the contestants will re-read the script and be re-scored, subject to the same rules. 4. PRIZES: Local Prize: The winners of this May 20,, 2005 Boston Lobsters KidCaster competition will receive (4) tickets to a home match of the local WTT Pro League team The Boston Lobsters (www.bostonlobsters.net) on a night to be determined by the team (the winner must be accompanied by his/her parent/guardian); (b) the opportunity to introduce or interview players at a WTT match. 5. PRIZE ACCEPTANCE: The prizes are not transferable. All prizes will be awarded. No cash redemptions or prize substitutions allowed, except by Boston Lobsters who may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if a prize or any portion thereof becomes unavailable or undeliverable for any reason. The prize winner s parent/guardian must accept the prize in their child s name, and must also sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release (where permitted) within one day prior to the WTT Pro League Boston Lobsters home match described in Rule 4 above or the winner may be disqualified and an alternate chosen based on original judging results. All prize winners must be accompanied by their parent/guardian. The parent/guardian accompanying the prize winner to the match will be required to sign and return a liability/publicity release on his/her own behalf and their child as a condition of participation in prize-related activities. By accepting the prize, the winner and his/her parent/legal guardian consent to the use of their names and/or likenesses including any group or individual photo/film/video taken of winner and/or his/her
parent/guardian at any WTT Pro League Boston Lobsters match or local or national KidCaster competition for advertising, trade and promotional purposes in all media worldwide, including but not limited to the Internet, without approval and without payment of additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. By entering this competition, each contestant and their parent/guardian agrees to irrevocably assign and transfer to Boston Lobsters, USA Tennis New England and Tenacity, Inc. all rights, title and interest in and any photo, film or videotape taken of winner without additional compensation. By participating in this competition, contestants and his/her parent/guardian agree: (a) to be bound by the Official Rules; and (b) that the decisions of the judges are final on all matters relating to the competition.
