I'm told that I'm a "creature of habit". Yea I park in the same place everywhere I go (a long way away from everyone else), I eat a lot of the same stuff, I have my daily routines and the list goes on... The other day I was headed to the store to get more bananas. I was asked what I was going to get from the grocery store. I replied donuts and bananas. Only because I eat 2 bananas a day. One about 5:28am and the other about 11:17am. Your going to get what again...! Well to prove I'm not a "creature of habit" when I got to store I promptly selected bananas and donuts. See I'm not a "creature of habit" and I do like to mix it up a little. I'm right again. This month starts the "In Memory of" page. It will bring back a lot of great memories as I read the list of names of former club members. It's also a great addition to the November newsletter. I hope to see a great turnout this year at Allen Samuels for our 2013 Toy Drive. I believe we do some good every year and help brighten the day for some people in need. I would like to thank Morris Counts, Tommy Martin, Kyle Hill, Rich Lemmon, Jim McCutcheon, Frank Bonczek and John Lorbeck for showing their cars at the fair this year. Off The Wing by Barry Hansen Snake and Mongoose movie came and went in 3 days. No advertising that I saw. By the time I learned it was here, it was gone. A couple of club members saw it. Very good reviews. Hope it will be back, can t wait to see it. Until then, the best drag race movie to date is Heart Like a Wheel, story of Shirley Muldowney. Best stock car movie Greased Lightning story of Wendell Scott, the first black NASCAR driver, played by Richard Pryor. Speaking of Shirley, she has always been one of our heroes. When our daughter Kate was 4 or 5 years old it was daddy daughter bonding at the MotorPlex Fall Nat s. Shirley had just gone out in the second round. We are standing at the ropes watching her crew break down the pit. Kate cruises under the rope, around the dragster and crew, walks right up to Shirley who is leaning against the trailer and engages in conversation. Couple of minutes later Kate returns. I talked to Shirley. What did you talk about? I told her she lost. She said yep. I said Why? She said I didn t do a very good job driving. It was my fault. I need to drive better next time. That was Shirley, no BS, no excuses, a straight shooter even with a 4 year old. I got pictures somewhere. Great time at the chili cook-off and monthly meeting. Won second place again (always a bridesmaid, never a bride). All good chili this time, even a meatball chili. No Yankee stew, no spaghetti sauce, no chili with mushrooms or chicken. All good. Thanks Bill Boon for hosting at his shop and thanks Susan for the planning, coordinating and judging. SRT Vipers came in 5 th and 7 th at the Petite Le Mans in Road Atlanta Oct 19, last race of the season. Not bad for a hastily formed first year team. Will try to go to Austin next year and cheer them on in person. Reporting on the only racing worth following this year, NHRA. Gateway Nat s in St Louis: Antron Brown T/F, Fast Jack Beckman s Charger runner up to John Force in F/C. Auto Plus Nat s in Reading, PA: Antron Brown runner up T/F, Pro Stock all Dodge Avenger final, Jeg Coughlin over Allen Johnson. Only two more races to go. In my opinion because Christmas has been ruined by rampant commercialism which seems to get worse every year, I have come to believe Thanksgiving is the only real winter holiday. My wish is that you get to spend Thanksgiving surrounded by friends, relatives and loved ones and we all pause to remember those who have gone before us that we are so lucky to have known. Mopar, if you re not with us, you re behind us.

In Memory of We take a moment this month to remember those we have lost and to draw closer those we can still share and love. Sam Jaffus, with 4 Mopars did it all, MuscleCar Challenge, car shows, cruises, Cars and Coffee. Always with a smile, always ready to talk Mopar. Tommy Craig and his wife were cornerstones of the club. Hosted summer pool parties for the club at their house. His yellow Dart Sport, a NMCA recordholder. Bob Cain, former club president. Known for his 6-Pack Super Bee and the first Viper in the club. Enjoyed sports car racing the Viper. Art Johnson and wife Judy, both club officers several times. Hosted the club Christmas party at their house. Custom 340 Duster with tons of chrome under the hood. Ham radio operator. Jimmy Box influenced several members joining. A fixture around swap meets and car shows. Lost long battle with cancer. Gary Bradshaw, also influenced several members joining. A real source of Mopar knowledge helped many with their project cars. Mike Nagle loved his Mopars as well as John Deere tractors. Tem Greene, possibly a founding member, very proud when elected club president. This long time member also a wealth of Mopar knowledge. C. W. Icard would bring 4 or 5 of his Mopars to shows at the same time. An all around nice guy. Brad Smith, loved to race, always at the track. Paul Buchanan, known as the little brother. A great guy to be around. Richard Elms, one of our characters. Kidded for going barefoot when ever he could, another who really knew his Mopars. Mike Morris, always carried a smile and photos to share. A big racer. Stan Bradshaw, long time member, could always make you laugh....and Donna Henslee, Eddie Parsley, Ruben Frazier. We love and miss them all. We are better for having crossed their paths.
