SCRIP CHAIRMAN- PAUL W HAASE Hello Golfers! I hope everyone had fun at the Turkey Shoot last month. Did you win a Turkey? If you did you got a new crisp $20 bill. You can see who won under the Tournament Results. I think most folks are getting their scrip/cash awards. If you re missing something, you can contact me and we ll straighten this out. As we have many new members, I thought it would be appropriate to explain how we get from tourney day to your payout. We approve/audit the results from tournaments at the board meeting that follows the tourney weekend. Once, approved, I allocate the envelopes and the scrip into the files I keep with me at tournaments and club events. The awards will be waiting for you at the scoring table after each round. If you have any questions, I am usually at the scorer s table after the round is complete. I will have you sign for your scrip/cash. If you are not able to attend, please call or email me and tell me who you want me to give it to. I try not to mail out these awards, as the mail service is risky on cash awards. I can be reached by email at paul1.haase@ge.com. Or my Cell number is 714-812-6490. If you miss a tourney, I will try to meet you at the square so you can spend you award sooner. Here is a Rules Guy scenario and the official SGA response I received. Winter is on the way and the Bird catching fences are up at the Square. What a joke! Here is the Local Rules that explains how to deal with them. 1. Golf ball comes to rest inside the hazard (touching the red line marking the hazard, is considered in the hazard). No relief 2. Golf ball is outside the Hazard: Player is entitled to relief when the fence interferes with the stance or area of the intended swing. Drop the ball, without penalty, with in one club length of and not nearer the hole, than the nearest point of relief. You cannot take the fences down, bend the fence posts or remove the red stakes. If you do you are going to be assessed a penalty. The same rule also covered removing a course boundary, such as a white stake or fence. Not really sure why they put these fences up anyway. The birds, just hop right over them. Remember to take care of the course, fill your divots, and repair your pitch mark. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
