MINUTES FOR EWGA MEETING MARCH 26, 2018 PRESIDENT S REPORT (JANE RAMSAY) Jane Ramsay called the meeting to order at 10:12am and welcomed everyone. She thanked all the volunteers for their continued support in assisting with the many functions associated with running our association. Jane indicated we were working on selecting an alternate golf course while Eisenhower undergoes renovations beginning October 2018. Three alternate courses were being considered as a result of a straw poll, Glen Dale Country Club (11501 Old Prospect Hill Road, Glenn Dale, MD 20769), Compass Pointe (9010 Fort Smallwood Road, Pasadena, MD 21122), and Crofton Country Club (1691 Crofton Pkwy., Crofton, MD 21114). She indicated details were still being discussed with these potential alternative courses. A poll to select the alternate course by our members will be taken once all the information is obtained from these courses. Jane introduced five new members: Ann Baird, JoAnn Fyanes, Shirley Morcom, Joyce North, and Sharon Sellars. OLD BUSINESS Joe Tubiolo, Eisenhower s Superintendent, was welcomed and provided an update on the course conditions and upcoming renovations. Joe indicated they would be aerating within the next week weather permitting. They would be using the same maintenance schedule as last year except possibly in the fall as they prepare to close the course for renovations. He indicated September 30 th was the estimated closing date. Joe indicated the county meets weekly to review activity associated with the course renovations. The current estimated date for Eisenhower golf course to open for play is April 2020. The new clubhouse, however, is not expected to be ready by that date.

Joe shared a number of changes the course will experience during the renovation including installation of a new irrigation system, new bent grass greens, new Bermuda grass fairways, and replacing many cart paths areas, etc. TREASURERS REPORT (JOANNE MONTGOMERY) Joanne Montgomery presented the proposed budget, which was based on a projected membership of sixty-two, for the 2018 season and provided copies during the meeting. The statement included the 2017 balance, our anticipated 2018 income, the 2018 anticipated expenses, and the projected 2018 yearend balance. GENERAL S CUP (SUSAN DARNLEY FOR CAROLYN FEELEY) Susan Darnley discussed the General Cup s tournament, which is a match play event, and encouraged all to participate. She also sent out an email to members prior to our opening meeting explaining this tournament. The tournament, managed by Carolyn Feeley, runs concurrently with the regular weekly tournament between the Spring and Fall tournaments. It is a handicapped match play format. If interested please send an email to Carolyn Feeley. This is the second year for this event. It is a wonderful tournament to experience match play in a friendly environment, especially for those unfamiliar with match play. RULES COMMITTEE (MARLIES EMPEY) Marlies Empey will be happy to address any rules questions throughout the year and will send out information via email to the membership concerning those questions. Our rules were posted on the EWGA bulletin board prior to our opening meeting, which reflected a few updates. It was also posted on our website. Please be sure to visit our website to review them if you haven t already,

TOURNAMENT CHAIR (SUSAN DARNLEY & SUE MARTSON) Susan Darnley forwarded an email to the membership prior to our opening meeting outlining her talking points. The email and her presentation reflected the following: Susan went over the nuts and bolts of Wednesday play, including when the signup sheet will be available for Wednesday play (Sunday before the Wednesday) and when the first pairings for Wednesday play will be distributed (first pairings go out Sunday night). If a golfer has a time problem and must tee off by a certain time (e.g. doctors appointment) to please let her or Sue know prior to Sunday when they are scheduling the groups tee times. Sue asked members if they need to cancel the day of play (Wednesday) to please contact the course and text either her or Susan (depending who is the Tournament Chair that week) as soon as possible. Everyone was asked to please arrive 30 minutes prior to your tee time. Susan also mentioned if the weather becomes iffy golfers will more than likely be reassigned tee times due to cancellations. So please arrive even earlier on those iffy weather days. Members were asked to volunteer as early and/or late hostesses. She distributed a signup sheet for volunteers. Susan indicated where the early and late hostess folders are located (plastic tub in our office in the ladies room), which included each hostesses duties. All golfers were asked to please check their names off (sign-in) on the pairing sheet in our office located in the ladies restroom the day of play. The score cards to be used for Wednesday play will be available from this same lovely office. Pace of play is important for all golfers. Please try to keep up with the group in front of you.

If a player picks up their ball during play they cannot win flight prizes, such as low gross score, low net, or low putts. You may however win cash for birdies, sandies (par on a hole after being in the sand), chip-ins, and closes to the pin. If you do pick up please make note of it on the flight sheet. You must still post your score for handicap reasons even if you pick up. Members were asked to please keep their handicaps updated by posting their scores the day they played. Random reviews will be performed to help ensure everyone is posting their scores in a timely manner. The first of the month handicaps will be used for our weekly play. Although we also receive updated handicaps the 15 th of the month we will be using the 1 st of the months. It is too time consuming for the Tournament Chairs to update everyone s handicap twice/month. A listing of members handicaps is posted on the bulletin board in our office. A listing and description of the weekly 2018 schedule is on our EWGA website for review. The listing is also posted on our bulletin board. SUBURBAN WOMEN S GOLF ASSOCIATION, SWGA (DONNA DALFONZO-WIGGS & KATIE FONTAINE) Susan Darnley forwarded an email to the membership prior to our opening meeting outlining Donna/Katie s talking points. The email and Katie s presentation reflected the following: Listed below are the 2018 SWGA match dates, locations and opponents: April 25 th (Wednesday) at Oak Creek (Eisenhower vs. Enterprise) May 7 th (Monday) at Enterprise (Eisenhower vs. Oak Creek) May 22 nd (Tuesday) at Univ. of MD (Eisenhower vs. Cattail Creek) June 25 th (Monday) at Eisenhower (Eisenhower vs. Hobbit s Glen) July 17 th (Tuesday) at South River (Eisenhower vs. South River) August 14 th (Tuesday) at Cattail Creek (Eisenhower vs. Crofton) September 25 th (Tuesday) at Hobbit s Glenn (Eisenhower vs U of MD) October 11 th (Thursday) at Crofton (FUN DAY MIXED TEAMS)

Katie Fontaine distributed a signup sheet requesting eligible members to participate in the upcoming SWGA match play events. All skill levels (flight A, B, C, D) of players are needed so please email Katie or Donna if interested in participating. Katie indicated members may only play for one club. EWGA members who are also members at other clubs must indicate which club they will be representing. 2018 MEMBER/GUEST INVITATIONAL (DEB ANDREW & JUNE PAUL) Deb Andrew and June Paul have graciously agreed to organize this wonderful event. Jane Ramsay provided information concerning the Invitational presentation for Deb and June in their absence. The 2018 Invitational will be held Wednesday June 27 th. Deb and June have selected a SUMMER SAFARI theme. This is a major event and all members were asked to assist in making it another fabulous time by signing up to volunteer. A signup sheet was distributed during the meeting. Donations are in need for prizes, baskets, decorations, etc. Volunteers will be needed to: Food bring breakfast items, drinks, etc. (Need someone to get vendor for lunch, arrange drink cart, etc.) Baskets organize and oversee effort, need donations for baskets, assemblers to make up baskets, volunteers to help set up table Registration check in golfers, sell raffle tickets and mulligans Decorations donate decorations & decorate, donate pavilion tablecloths and setup (day before Invitational), volunteers to decorate/beautify bathrooms Carts donate goods for cart bags, bring water for carts, place goody bags and water in each cart Prepare flyer Deb will prepare Prepare pairings and collect registration fee volunteer needed Please contact either Deb or June if you can help in any way.
