BRIGHT FUTURE Bright Future 4-H club met in the Salem Elementary cafeteria on Thursday, April 21 st. We learned more about fossils and fossil hunting. Later we went outside and escalated a T-Rex and a stegosaurus skeleton. Our April s meeting we met in the cafeteria and talked about Earth Day. We made bird feeders out of pine cones and cardboard rolls covered in peanut butter. We then rolled them in bird seeds and all the kids got to pick out a plant from a tray. They were all able to plant them in their own pots that they decorated. We will not be meeting next month since school will be out. Please be watching newsletter for possible meeting times with a different location for this summer. HORSE CLUB We had 17 horses and over 30 members and adults attend the Horse Club meeting held on Apr 5 th at the Church arena. We practiced for the upcoming horse play day and helped the younger members to learn better riding skills. We focused on barrel racing fine points. This year s first Road to The Lord Horse Fun Day was held at the Faith Country Church on Sat Apr 9 th. Most of the members participated and won lots of ribbons. There was also a special barrel/pole event at the Church on the 16 th that some of our group attended. Caleb won the youth barrels. Also, the older members repainted the Church arena this month Special thanks to Maddie, Annie, Katie, Stephanie, Paige, Allie, and Caleb who joined some of the other Church youth in this Community Service project!! Our next meeting/event will be our annual St. Jude s Trail Ride Fundraiser to be held on Saturday, May 7th at 9:30am at the Faith Country Church. We will be riding trails in the area in the morning, break for lunch, and play new fun games in the arena after noon. Bring your St. Jude donations, your horse, and come ride with us!! This will count as our monthly meeting. The next Road to The Lord Horse Fun Day at the Faith Country Church will be Saturday May 21 st at 9:30am. If anyone has questions about any Horse Club activities please contact Christi at 371-0660 or 895-3461. No news reported. No news reported. Mr. Clark is in charge of the community garden. 2

He talked to us about the goals of the garden/community and the benefit it provides. He also brought seed and we planted them in egg cartons to start our own garden. Thank you to Mr. Clark. Our community service project was Shady Oaks. The girls painted fingernails and boys weeded the flowerbed. We also volunteered at the MS State Park. It was a beautiful day to be out. Our next meeting May 11 th and we will plan our end of year party. Awesome Adventurers-- In observance of Earth Day we walked from school to 1st Street and picked up trash working our way to Hill Street and Sonic for a treat. Thanks to Nanny Phyliss McIntosh and Officer Jamie Turnbough for making it a safe outing. Our next meeting, May 4th, will be our end of the school year picnic at the State Park. VIOLA LOYAL LONGHORNS The Viola Loyal Longhorns had their meeting April 12 with 15 members and 4 adults present. Kevin supplied the snacks and drinks. Evan led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Kevin led us in the 4-H pledge. After our snacks and pledges we went over some of the Outdoor O'Rama literature; especially gun safety since most of them was signed up for the BB competition.
