The P ATRIOT P RESS Patriot Oaks Academy Newsletter January 12, 2018 Principal s Post Welcome back and happy 2018! We hope you had a wonderful holiday break with time spent making memories with family and friends! We are busy this January with getting the semester underway lots of learning and growing happening here! Report Cards come out at the end of this week. Remember that they are a snapshot of how your child is progressing with the grade level content at this point. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your child s teacher. We are here to help in any way we can. This month we are working on the G in our CHARGERS positive behavior program: Greet each day with a positive attitude. We have talked about starting the day with a smile and being willing to try, no matter how difficult the task may be. Life just seems easier to handle when we smile and put our best foot forward each day. We have many activities coming up in the next few weeks so I encourage you to look closely at the events throughout the newsletter this month. Our middle schoolers are involved in the History Fair with a parent night tomorrow evening, our basketball teams have begun their season and we have a parenting seminar next week that should be outstanding. There is never a dull moment here at Patriot Oaks. Middle School parents, in an earlier issue, I let you know that we were researching a 7-period day vs. the block schedule. We have surveyed our teachers and have spoken at length with the other middle schools and their administrators. After much discussion, our school will move to a 7 period day for this coming year. We look forward to having our students see their teachers each day and to better prepare them for high school as this change will bring us into alignment with Creekside s daily schedule. Nothing will change at this point but we wanted you to be aware of our future plans. I want to take a minute to wish each of you a happy new year! I sincerely hope that this new year brings great joy and new learning for you and your children. We are tremendously blessed to have the opportunity to be here with your children each day. Thank you for trusting us with your most prized possessions! We take that job seriously.
