If you have signed up to donate, please remember to eat a good breakfast, drink lots of water, and bring a photo ID and the pass you receive 1st period with you to the Upper Gym during your appointment slot. If you are 16, you also need your SIGNED parent consent form. See Mrs. Bever TODAY with any questions or if you haven't been able to sign up yet! Do you want to win a $25 visa gift card? The Junior Class would like to announce that the WHS Prom will be held on Saturday, April 30th from 8 to 11 pm at the Dallara Indy Car Factory, Speedway IN. Prom tickets are on sale during lunch or in Mrs. Holt's room 1435. The cost is $30 a ticket. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Holt or Mr. Morse. Please support our WHS 2016 After Prom by eating at Panera TODAY, March 22 from 4-9pm! Be sure to bring the flyer with you! You can pick up a flyer at the Information Desk! Penny Wars continue through Friday, March 25th! Add points to your 4th period class's total by dropping coins into your collection box. Destroy other classes' points (of any class period) by dropping bills into those boxes. Any teacher with a Pennies for Patients sign on his or her door is participating and is fair game! Support the WHS After Prom by purchasing some DETERGENT FOR DOLLARS! It is a wonderful way for us all to keep our families smelling FRESH with laundry detergent, fabric softener, body wash, hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher pods, laundry detergent pods, and scent boosters! You can pick up an order form at the Information Desk. Orders are due by March 25th and products will arrive in mid-april. These products are very economical, and EVERYONE needs to do laundry, right?! Tri 2 Ceramics students! All pieces have been bisque fired and glaze fired. Please pick them up ASAP! All items placed on the save cart will be stored until spring break. (Tan carts are NOT save carts.) Music In Our Schools Month or MIOSM is NAfME s annual celebration during March which engages music educators, students, and communities from around the country in promoting the benefits of high quality music education programs in schools. FBI Youth Leadership Academy (YLA): The Summer YLA is an educational experience that provides students with valuable leadership training and a greater understanding of the FBI. Through experiential learning activities, students will develop skills in communication, trust, team work, goal setting and leadership. This residential event hosted at Bradford Woods, Indiana University s experiential learning center located just south of Mooresville, starts July 13 at 9:00 a.m. and ends July 15 at 11:00 a.m... Participants must: be current Juniors (member of the graduating class of 2017); have a GPA of at least 3.0; possess qualities of leadership, scholastic achievement and good citizenship; and commit to attending the entire three day program. If interested, visit Mr. Frederick (room 1224) to receive an application. The application includes a 500 word essay in which the applicant must depict his/her interest in the program and how it will enhance his/her future plans. Applications must be mailed and received by Friday, April 1, 2016. Twenty students from across the state will be selected to participate by the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association. There is no cost for students to participate; lodging and all meals are included. Students must arrange their own transportation if selected. Are you thinking of going to Prom? Rent your tux from DC Tuxedo rental and you will make After Prom even better and you get a deal! If WHS students come in before April 1st they get $50 off, $40 off those tuxes rented after April 1st. After Prom gets $10 for every tux rented in March, $5 for every tux rented in April. DC Tux is also hosting two nights with refreshments, TODAY, March 22nd and on Thursday, March 24th -- be sure to stop in and rent your tux soon! CLUB AND ACTIVITIES NEWS: Reminder that French Quiz Bowl permission slips and team names are due to Mr. Collins by this Thursday. Spanish Club t-shirts are in. Stop by room 2208 to pick yours up if you ordered one! Gracias. :) All JUNIOR members of NHS need to meet in the Learning Center after school on Thursday. Girls Matter: There is a rescheduled meeting for TODAY, Tuesday March 22nd. Mrs. Ondrusek s room 1421, and don't forget to bring a friend. Archery Club will have its spring season call-out TODAY, Tuesday March 22 nd in Mr. Sterling's room (1241) during period 6. Any student interested in shooting this spring should attend. New members are welcome and no experience or equipment is needed. See Mr. Sterling with any questions about the club. Are you interested in learning more about homelessness in Hamilton County? Do you often have a desire to help those less fortunate than you? If so, come to the call-out meeting for Blessings Bags, a group of caring WHS students who wish to help others. Our call-out meeting will be TODAY, Tuesday, March 22 in Mrs. Torvik's room (2233). If you have questions about Blessings Bags or can't come to the meeting, please see Mrs. Torvik, Mr. Wade, or Anna Lezama. Chick-fil-A Leader Academy: We will have a meeting during Period 6 TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 23rd in Mr. Ewing's room. A representative of the Westfield Parks Department will be here to discuss the impact project. Creative Writing Club will meet this Thursday in Mrs. Torvik's room during period 6. Come and write with us; it's our last meeting before Spring Break! Don't forget to email Mrs. Torvik any writing you would like to have displayed in Rock the Arts! Submissions are due by March 31. Flag Football Club: If anyone is interested in joining, there will be one last call-out meeting opportunity this Thursday, March 24 during period 6 in Room 2301 (The Moon Lab). This will be a coed club so it's open to anyone. Please see Mr. Reece for more details. ATHLETICS: Girls Varsity Softball: An awesome effort by Ashley Swartout and Cassidy Ferrer lifted Westfield Lady Rocks Varsity to a 19-1 win in five innings over Monrovia on Monday at Westfield HS. Swartout racked up seven RBIs on three hits for the Lady Rocks. She doubled in the first inning and homered in the third and fourth innings. Ferrer recorded the win in the circle for the team. She allowed one run over four innings. She struck out five, walked two and surrendered four hits. Twelve runs in the opening three innings allowed Lady Rocks to put away Monrovia. An

RBI double by Swartout, an RBI single by Cassidy Ferrer, and a two-run home run by Kelsey Powers in the first inning followed by an RBI single from senior Alexis Hartman, an RBI singles from sophomore Dory Thompson and Cassidy Ferrer during the second inning helped the Lady Rocks put some runs on the board. The team continues play Tuesday evening against Crawfordsville at home. The game starts at 5:30 PM. Attention Volleyball Players: There will be a Volleyball Call Out Meeting TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 23 rd for any girl; incoming grades 9-12, interested in playing volleyball at WHS next year. The meeting will be held in Room 1614, two doors down from training room. SCHOOL COUNSELING CENTER: SENIORS! There are a great number of scholarships listed in Naviance and some deadlines are quickly approaching! Also, the Westfield Education Foundation scholarships were posted; again, eight scholarships with 1 application. Check out the list in Naviance today! (NCL, Inc.), Crossroads Chapter is a local nonprofit organization of mothers and daughters in Hamilton County. Nationwide there are over 200 Chapters. The mission of NCL, Inc. is to foster mother daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences. Through the mother daughter relationship, it is our vision to develop strong women leaders serving and impacting communities today and for generations to come. Membership opportunities are currently available for a limited time or until the classes are full.
