This year, the semester ends on December 22 so we are running right up to the holidays. PLEASE avoid pulling your student from school early. Final exams will be Thursday (Periods 1, 3, 5, 7) and Friday (periods 2, 4, 6, 8), Dec. 21-22. Students will have access time from 1:25pm 2:50pm on both days to work with teachers, complete make-ups and test retakes. It is important that students take advantage of this time and after school tutoring (library from 3pm-5pm, Monday through Thursday) between now and finals. It has been a great opening season in winter activities, basketball, wrestling and swimming have taken to the pool, mat and court and we are looking forward to the winter sports seasons. There are many festive holiday concerts, events and performance coming up this month, so please support our Wildcats in at least one of the following in December: On Monday, December 4 th the FMHS Wind Ensemble, Symphonic and Jazz Bands will be performing a free holiday concert at 7pm in the Avalon Theatre. On December 5 th the FMHS Orchestra will perform their holiday concert at Fruita Middle School at 6:30pm. On Tuesday the 12 th the Men s Choir, Women s Choir, Las Cantantes, Monumental Singers and Show Choir will be performing their annual holiday concert in the FMHS Auditorium at 7pm. Please come support our hard working artists, singers and musicians! The FFA Cowboy Christmas Bazaar will be on Friday, December 15 th from 8am-8pm in the Ag Shop so drop by, buy a gift and support FFA. On Tuesday the 19 th there will be an Art Show in the library, beginning at 6 p.m. This time of year can be tough... It s getting cold outside, finals are around the corner and the holidays can add to the stress. Being a teenager is already challenging, and being the parent of teens is even MORE challenging! This time of year, it is a GREAT time to pull back and appreciate all the positives around us. We are fortunate at Fruita Monument to have an incredible staff that care about our students and a student body that values education. Thank you for your continued support. Wishing you and yours a peaceful and joyful holiday season. Respectfully, Todd McClaskey, Principal IT S GREAT TO BE A FRUITA MONUMENT WILDCAT! Music Notes Congratulations to the Wildcat Marching Band for their 5th place finish in class 4A Colorado Bandmasters Association State Championships in late October. This was the 11 th year in a row qualifying for state and the second in a row that the Wildcats were in Finals. Congratulations on a great season Wildcats! The Wildcats would like to extend a big thank you to all of the parents and businesses that have donated time and money to the program throughout the year. Your continued support is much appreciated by the band students at Fruita Monument High School. Thank you so much for your generosity. We would love to see you at our December concert on Monday, December 4 th at the historic Avalon Theatre. Admission is free. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. For a complete calendar of all of the bands performances please visit: WCCC Tour for Sophomores The counseling department will once again be holding our tours of Western Colorado Community College (WCCC) in January. All sophomores are required to attend. Juniors are welcome to come as well, just see your counselor to get on the list. The WCCC tours are a great opportunity to see all the wonderful programs that they offer, such as Welding, Animation, Graphic Design, Marketing, Medical Preparation, Culinary etc. These classes give students a chance to take college-level coursework in their career area of interest. By taking these classes, students earn high school credit (including some core credit! See our course guide on the counseling website for more information) as well as college credit. Transportation is also provided to and from FMHS for students taking classes at WCCC as part of their school day. Tours will be held on Thursday, January 11`1h. School district busses will transport students. Students will be given applications after the tour ends.
