You have blessed them abundantly with their children. Please give our parents joy and strength. Fill them with Your powerful presence. Lord, give them real thirst and hunger for the Holy Spirit and for the Word of God. Give them health in spirit, soul and body. In all they do, let it please you Lord. We ask this in Your name, Amen. Tomorrow, the St. Apollinaris faculty will join the faculties of the Santa Rosa Diocese for a full day in-service at Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa. Happy September everyone! As they all are, this is a busy month. Right around the corner we have picture day, September 14. The optional tie and shirt for the junior high is also optional for Picture Day. The 8 th graders will take pictures for their student identification cards. Their official 8 th grade pictures will be taken October 19. Also September 14 is our Back to School Night!!! The schedule for this evening is as follows: 6pm 6:20pm 5 8 (Classroom) 6:25pm 7:10pm Enrichment Teacher Presentation (Hall) 7:15pm 7:30pm Grades TK 4 (Classroom)

2 Shamrock Newsletter This is a parent event. You will hear brief presentations, which will give insight into a day in the life of your student! If you would like individual time with your student s teacher, please call to set up a specific conference. Back to School Night is a tightly scheduled evening, which does not allow enough time for individual conferences. The Enrichment Teacher Presentation, will include important announcements regarding the school year and school policies. I love our school!!!! I was just outside at morning recess, thinking I could help the TK & K students with recess and snacks, and I was preempted by a dozen students, from grades 4 8 who were eagerly assisting our 4 and 5 year olds with their morning snacks and playing games with them. So heartwarming.again, I love our school!!!! Blessings, Connie Howard SCHOOL NEWS: Harvest in Napa Valley has begun! Thank you to our coaches for their dedication to our students and our volleyball program. We couldn t do it without your gifts and talents. Our 5th grade team may have lost their first matches, but for their first time ever on the court as volleyball players, the girls had fun and learned a lot! Our focus will be fine tuning our serves and working together on the bumps. We look forward to a fun season learning the game of Volleyball. Our 6 th grade girls won the first game of the season against St. John s Lutheran in three sets: 25-17, 15-25, 15-6. Everyone played a great game after only two practices. The girls demonstrated great sportsmanship and camaraderie and are looking forward to a fun and exciting season. The 7th grade girls opened their season with three impressive wins against Napa rivals Kolby Academy, Blue Oak, and St. Johns! Great serving by Kate Kerr and Eleanor Meyers racked up points all day and Mia Peterson unleashed her new power overhand serve in an impressive way. Gretchen Wahle and Megan O'Malley defended our home court with timely digs and both showed great sportsmanship by supporting their teammates and keeping spirits up. Match captains Erin Meader,

5 Shamrock Newsletter Isabella Wright, and Matilda Bourke set the tone for strong performances by being great teammates and working hard all week in preparation. Our 8 th grade girls have shown remarkable improvement for the first matches of the season. They defeated St. Eugene s in three nail biting games on Saturday, only to return and secure two more wins, one against St. John's Napa and the other against St. Helena Montessori. Notable performances by Morgan Wright, taking the team to a win against St. Helena Montessori with her winning serves, as well as Jordyn Villegas, Alex Ibrahim, Ines Keller and Rose Mooney for their steady passing in the back and the front. We lost against St. Rose, but are just getting warmed up. With the work they are putting into each practice, the 8th graders are very strong contenders for first place. Let's see what the season brings! Our next matches will be the weekend of Sept. 10 th and times will be posted in next week s Shamrock. Come cheer our girls on! Basketball sign-ups for 7 th and 8 th grade are just around the corner. Stay tuned for more information!
