CHILD INJECTABLE TRAINING ARM INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING LF03629U REPLACEMENT SKIN ON IV ARM LF03612U This kit includes specially-treated tubing, upper and lower arm skins, liquid lubricant, and lubricating powder. You will need a medium Phillips head screwdriver to complete the skin and tubing replacement. Products by NASCO

Detaching the Life/form Child Injectable Training Arm from the Child CRiSis Manikin: Figure 3 Figure 1 1. Rotate the arm outward so the hand is above the head of the manikin. Pull the arm away from the body of the manikin (Figure 1). Detaching the Life/form Child Injectable Training Arm from the Resusci Junior* Manikin: 2. When the screws are out, spread the body halves far enough apart to remove the Injectable Training Arm and retaining ring from the shoulder (Figure 3). 3. Remove the retaining ring from the Injectable Training Arm. Remove Old Skin and Vein: Figure 4 Figure 2 1. Lay the Resusci Junior* body face down and remove the six screws holding the body together (Figure 2). A. Roll shoulder skin up to expose the screwhead located below the deltoid (Figure 4). Unscrew and remove this locking screw. B. Rotate the lower arm outward until it stops. *RESUSCI JUNIOR IS A TRADEMARK OF THE LAERDAL CORPORATION. 1

E. To replace the shoulder skin, remove the foam ring and unscrew the four exposed screws. Remove the plastic ring (Figure 7). Figure 5 C. Pull the lower arm away from the upper arm. The tubing will also pull from the tracks in the upper arm (Figure 5). Figure 8 F. Work the stump piece out through the lower end of the shoulder skin (Figure 8). Place New Tubing in Channel: Figure 6 D. Coat the outer surface of the lower arm skin with powder lubricant. Peel off the old skin from the lower arm so that it will be inside-out when you finish (Figure 6). Remove the old tubing by pulling it from the channel in the lower arm core. Figure 9 G. Double the tubing to find the approximate center, and place in the grooves of the lower core starting with the center of the tubing at the center of the back of the hand (Figure 9). Figure 7 2

As the skin is worked down over the core, be sure that the tubing remains in its channel. Work Fingers Into Place: J. Guide the fingers and thumb carefully into the proper holes as the skin is slipped further d o w n o n t h e c o r e. I f y o u encounter difficulty, simply slide the skin back an inch or two from the fingers and begin again. Figure 10 H. Generously coat arm core, tubing, and inside of the skins with liquid lubricant (Figure 10). Slide Skin On: Draw Skin Tightly Over Core: K. After the fingers are positioned in the hand, slide the skin over the remainder of the core to provide a snug fit. If air is trapped in the fingers, a 22 gauge needle can be used to puncture the fingertip and allow the air to escape. Check Tubing Location: Figure 11 I. Grasping the lower arm skin with both hands as illustrated (Figure 11), slide the skin down over the c o r e u n t i l t h e f i n g e r s a r e approaching the finger holes. (Caution: Work the skin on gently pulling hard on the end of the skin can stretch or tear the material.) L. Feel along the tubing channel to be certain that the tubing is properly seated. If it has slipped out of its channel while the skin was being pulled on, it can usually be moved back into position by working it with your fingers on the outside of the skin. M. Coat inner surface of shoulder skin with powder lubricant. Replace the upper arm skin by pushing the upper arm stump through the large opening at the lower end of the shoulder skin. 3

Figure 12 N. Feed the two ends of the tubing (from the lower arm) along the inside of the arm, under the upper arm skin, until they emerge from the two openings in the shoulder skin (Figure 12). Be careful that the tubing is flat and not twisted. NOTE: The two ends of tubing come out of the lower arm at positions near the anterior and posterior sides of the lower arm. The tubing from the anterior side of the lower arm should emerge from the lower hole in the shoulder. The tubing from the posterior side of the lower arm should emerge from the upper hole in the shoulder. O. Roll the upper arm skin up toward the shoulder to expose the locking screw hole. Figure 13 P. Connect the two arm cores and rotate to the natural position (Figure 13). NOTE: Keep tubing tight by pulling lightly on the exposed ends extending from the shoulder. Q. Replace the locking screw. R. Apply lubricating powder to the rolled-up portion of the shoulder skin. S. Roll shoulder skin down over lower arm skin and rotate lower arm back and forth to evenly distribute the powder between the two arm skins. Figure 14 T. Replace the plastic disc at the shoulder, making sure the four countersink holes of the disc are exposed. Replace the four screws (Figure 14). U. Replace the foam ring. Reattaching the Arm: V. For the Child CRiSis Manikin: Place arm back on manikin with the hand extended over the manikinʼs head. Rotate the arm down so it is positioned at the side of the manikin. W. For the Resusci Junior* Manikin: S i m p l y r e v e r s e t h e s t e p s described in the section for Detaching the Life/form Child Injectable Training Arm from the Resusci Junior* Manikin. *RESUSCI JUNIOR IS A TRADEMARK OF THE LAERDAL CORPORATION. 4
