Rules for Half Court Basketball The ball must be checked in at the top to one of the guards at all breaks in play (fouls, out of bounds, violations, jump ball, score) Guard on defense checking the ball should make sure his teammates are in their spots and verify the score with the other team If there is a jump ball call, it will be alternating possession. Therefore, if gold started the game with the ball, black will get possession on the first jump ball. No free throws will be shot. The team that got fouled will take the ball out on top. Players call their own fouls and violations 1 point will be awarded at the start of the game for each player not completely prepared. Whether a player is fully unprepared or half, it is still 1 point for the other team. The ball must be brought back past the free throw line on any changed possession, including an air ball, steal, or blocked shot. If a player is fouled in the act of shooting and makes the basket, his team is awarded the point and the other team gets the ball. If he misses, his team keeps the ball.
