Wellington Hockey U11 Programme Key Information 2018

About the programme The U11 HUB Programme has been running since 2012, however Wellington Hockey decided not offer this in 2017. Wellington Hockey have brought a new and improved U11 Habit HUB programme back in 2018. The programme enables Wellington Hockey to offer a significant number of young players the opportunity to develop their basic hockey skills over a period of weeks and then put these skills into practice in a mini-tournament and a weekend tournament in the Wairarapa. Importantly, the programme is also a great development opportunity for coaches it is a chance for coaches in our community to extend their coaching skills with this age group, while having access to ongoing support. Wellington Hockey will continue with the following to improve the organisation of this programme; Wellington Hockey HUB coordiantors to help volunteer coaches at trainings A self-nomination process to streamline administration and communication Nomination Guidelines The following should be used as guidelines when players are nominating themselves for the U11 program. It s important for individuals to recognise that although the U11 programme is a development programme there is constraints on the amount of people that can be catered for. If the programme is oversubscribed priority will be given to Year 6 s. Players that possess the following attributes should be nominated themselves for the U11 program; High level of coachability Versatility in a range of positions Willingness to learn Team Player Love of hockey Positive attitude Embrace the principles of fair play Be U11 as of 1 st January 2018 and be in year 5 or 6 Be available to attend the Wairarapa tournament

A description of the roles are as follows; Team Coach: Assist WHA HUB coordinators to run training sessions and coach the team at tournaments. Team Manager: Oversee teams at the mini tournament and Wairarapa tournament. Both roles require the individuals to stay with the team at the Wairarapa tournament.
