Sheep and Goat weigh in will be held on April 28 from 8-11 a.m. at the Fairgrounds. Must be in line by 11. Please wait in line to be directed where to drive. This will help avoid being in the way. All market lambs must be born on or after January 15th to be eligible. Lambs born on or after January 15, of current year are eligible for entry. Lambs purebred or grade, may be entered. All lambs must be weighed and tagged with an ear tag at the weigh-in to be entered at the fair. Lambs don t need to be sheared before the initial weigh-in. Lambs, however, cannot be shown both in the purebred and grade class. Stall rent - $ 2.50 per pen (4-5 head per pen) Each member may weigh 15 lambs; 6 total lambs may be exhibited as market or feeder, and can exhibit one "pen of 2". The remaining 9 lambs may be exhibited in breeding classes. Each 4-H er is allowed to bring a total of 5 wethers to the weigh-in in April and all 5 may come to the fair. Each 4-H er is allowed to bring 7 does to the fair. All breeds are eligible. Only wethers may be shown in the market class. All male-intact goats must be castrated or banded before the initial April weigh-in date. Goat Clinic May 5th at 2:00 in the Blue Ribbon building at the Fairgrounds. Dog Obedience: The Power Paws club is starting April 5 at 7:00. This is an informational meeting. DO NOT BRING DOGS. It is requested you bring a copy of your vaccination record to keep on file. Come ready with questions, and open ears! 4-H State Summer Camp Registrations are OPEN June 8-11: Shooting Sports Youth Camp at Pictured Rocks Camp, Monticello, for youth completing 4th through 8th grade by summer 2018. Try new SESS skills! June 17-20: STEM Survival Camp, Clover Woods, Madrid, for youth completing grades 4-7 by summer 2018. A rustic camping challenge! HORSE CLINICS BEGIN: The first horse clinic of the year will be April 16 at 6:30. An ISU Representative will be there discussing pasture maintenance. Riding time afterwards. You must attend 2 clinics to be eligible to show at June 29-July 1: Global Citizenship Camp at Clover Woods, Madrid, for youth completing 5-8 grade by summer 2018. Learn about cultures from around the world, gain leadership skills! July 8-13: Design Dimensions Camp at Clover Woods, Madrid, for youth entering 9-12 grades fall 2018 and 2018 high school graduates. MARK YOUR CALENDARS: May12 from 3-9 p.m. will be a 4-H Fun Night held at the YMCA in Ottumwa. This is open to ALL 4-H members, at no cost to you! Some of the activities will be swimming, rock wall, Wii games, and access to the gym! We will provide a snack for you during these activities. Please call the office no later than the 10th to let us know if you re joining in on the fun! We are teaming up with Van Buren County for this event. No need to stay the entire time. YQCA Youth for the Quality care of Animals YQCA will be taking the place of FSQA this year and going forward. This is still for anyone exhibiting an animal that is in the food chain. You will have the option to take an in person session that lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours or you may take the training and quiz online. The online training is $12 and the in person training is $3. This must be paid online and you must create a profile before attending the training. Please follow the link below to get set up. Training must be completed by May 15th.
