Féile Hurling Best of luck to our Féile hurlers who will take part in the Regional Féile na ngael tournament in Kilkenny tomorrow. These tournaments, being played for the first time and which came out of the review of the National Féile Competitions, are blitzes involving forty four teams from eleven counties playing at five venues throughout the country. Our lads qualified for regional tournaments following their fifth place play-off win against Lucan Sarsfields in Mobhi Road back in the middle of May and they will play tomorrow in Thomastown. In their group, Group 1, they will play Thomastown, Rathnure of Wexford and Ballygunner of Waterford. The winner of this group will play in the regional final in Nowlan Park tomorrow afternoon against the winners of Group 2 which includes Erins Own Kilkenny, St Olivers Waterford, Blackrock form Cork and Adare from Limerick. We wish the lads the very best tomorrow. Na Fianna Lads Part of Dublin Win Congrats to three lucky Na Fianna lads who were chosen to play for a Dublin under 12 selection in a Dublin versus Belfast challenge in a Cuman Na mbunscoil football game in Clontarf on Friday June 11th. Dublin won 6-4 to 3-4 in a great game of very competive football. Coaching the Dubs on the day was former Dublin half back David Henry. Well done lads. Seamus Smith (2003), Vinny Flynn (2002) and Bill Matthews (2002) 5

Members Subscriptions Members are reminded that subscriptions for the current year became due and payable immediately following the Club s AGM last October. All GAA Registrations were submitted on 1 st April as per regulation, and any member whose membership was unpaid on that date was not included in this Registration as per Club policy. The consequences of this are that unregistered players are no longer insured to play or train and do so at their own risk. In addition, teams playing unregistered players could be adjudged an illegal team and suffer the loss of points and even elimination from competitions. Members subs can be paid in the bar on Wednesday nights between 6.30pm and 9pm and again on Saturday mornings from 9am to 11am. Payments by card, cheque and cash will be accepted. Subscriptions can also be paid at the club office, Mon to Fri, 9am to 1pm. 6

Handball Féile Best of luck to our handballers in Féile this weekend. Our team of four lads travel to Omagh to play in tomorrow morning s qualifiers and if successful there they will play in the finals on Sunday. Latest Addition to Pitch Signs Welcome to Kumon, an education study centre in Drumcondra, the latest addition to Na Fianna s pitchside advertisers. All information now available on club website www.clgnafianna.ie 7

Championship Tickets Details on the ticket ordering process for match tickets for Dublin s next Championship outing, the semi-final clash with Wexford in Croke Park on Sunday 29 th June, are now available to view on the club website www.clgnafianna.ie. Members should note that details of ticket orders made through the club will be used as basis for allocating tickets later in the Championship. New Club Website Members may have noticed the recently revamped Na Fianna Club website. A dedicated team has been working very hard on this project over the last few months and after much thought and work, the new website went live during the week. Special thanks is especially due to Maurice Grehan, Tom Maguire, Steve Downes who gave of their time freely to ensure that this project was successfully delivered. Particular words of thanks and appreciation are also due to Colin O Reilly who over the years gave a huge amount of his time in doing a fantastic job in the creation and ongoing maintenance of the old website that served the club so well over that time. The newly designed site can be visited at www.clgnafianna.ie and now includes links to our Twitter and Facebook page. 8

A day of Adventure for the Under 12 Girls What a day of adventure for the Under 12 Girls from Na Fianna last Saturday as the group of 43 Girls and mentors headed to the historic Cooley Peninsula for the day. The trip was action packed and kicked off with the Girls and a Mentor or two taking a leap into the Irish Sea off Carlingford Pier. Thankfully the sun was shining and almost all the girls were encouraged to take the leap of faith! After drying off, the crew headed to Cooley Kickhams where they were hosted by one of the country s most famous clubs and were joined by visitors from nearby St Patricks of Lordship. The girls represented the club proudly and great fun was had by all. After the games it was on the move again to the old railway village of Greenore where the girls went on a Leprechaun Hunt and followed up with a barbeque. To top off the day, Robert, Carlingfords most famous ice cream man made a surprise visit with his Ice cream stall, it was just the perfect way to round off the sunny day! Many thanks to all the mentors and parents for their help and assistance in organising such a memorable day. 9

Dublin Poc Fada In 2012 Uachtaráin Cumann Luthchleas Gael, Liam O Neill appointed a new national committee, under the Chairmanship of Humphrey Kelleher (Naomh Mearnóg) to run the affairs of An Poc Fada. This new committee set about re-launching the Poc Fada experience and ran an excellent competition in its first year in 2013. With the co-operation of the Beann Eadair GAA Club, this year s Dublin finals (12 competitors) will take place next Friday June 27 th and will start and finish in the Beann Eadair club grounds in Páirc Uí Ruairc, Balkill. Na Fianna s Andy Flaherty will hope to take the title from last year s winner Cormac Ryan from Whitehall Colmcilles who will defend his title. The winner of the Dublin competition will go forward to represent the county in the Leinster finals to be held in July with the National Finals taking place in the Cooley Mountains on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Our Lady of Dolours Parish Fun Day Come along to the Parish of Our Lady of Dolours, Glasnevin (church beside the Botanical Gardens) Inaugural Family Fun Day Sunday 29 June 1215-2.30 pm, with bouncy castles, novelty competitions, music dancing, wheel of fortune etc. All welcome to join us before trekking down to Croker to cheer on the Dubs! Lost & Found One of our Minor footballers left a pair of Addidas tracksuit bottoms in the dressing rooms in Collinstown in the pocket of which he had his mobile phone which he is most anxious to have back. Any details please to John Lynch 087 2347294.and finally Best wishes to Bob Courtney for a speedy recovery following his accident during the week.. 10
