Home and School Basket Raffle We hope you are enjoying fall and getting ready for the Autumn Festival that is coming up the weekend of Nov. 11 th and 12 th. Since there are many new families at the school this year, we wanted to describe the Autumn Fest and the Basket Raffle the HSA sponsors in a bit more detail. Each year the Church s Ladies Guild holds an Autumn Festival at the school with several different vendors selling their wares; a bake sale (including nut and fruit rolls, yum!!!) and the kitchen is open so you can stop for a bite to eat. The Ladies Guild has a number of raffle items donated from parish groups and the Home and School Association (us!) holds a raffle for baskets donated from each of the families in the school. The family baskets (valued at about $20/basket) can be anything you think would be interesting, fun or useful. **No alcohol please, many kids drop tickets for these items, so we like to keep it kid friendly ** Some popular baskets we have had in the past include: Movie Night 1 or more DVDs, popcorn, candy and maybe a blanket Coffee/Tea Different coffee or teas, mugs, add-ins like flavor syrups or honey Pasta Basket A large pasta pot filled with dry pasta, different sauces and maybe a recipe Rainy Day Fun A box or basket filled with art supplies, board games and/or a book with ideas for activities Cookie Maker Cookie recipes and/or mix, cookie sheets, oven mitts, spatula, cutters and decorations Some people opt to get gift cards for restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters, music lessons or other local stores. On occasion we have had people donate large bags of dog or cat food, books or items such as crockpots or blenders. We will have several examples of baskets in the office, so if you would like to see one stop by. Preview Day. We are going to have a preview day again this year. On Friday afternoon Nov 10th, we will have the baskets set up and the kids can preview the baskets and drop tickets if they won t be able to make it over the weekend. Please remember to order your tickets early if you want to take advantage of this preview day. More info about tickets and volunteer sign-ups will be coming in the next several weeks. We also have a table of larger items which are raffled separately. In the past this has included items such as Date Night (gift cards for dinner, movie and dessert), A Keurig Coffee Maker with pods, Jewelry, A Money Tree and an Emergency Pack (blankets, flares, jumper cables, etc for the car). Some families donate these alone, or you can go together with another family to make one of these larger baskets. This is a fun family event and we hope everyone can participate both by making a basket and coming to the festival. It is a great fundraiser for the HSA as well as being a nice social event. If you have any other questions or will available to help during the Autumn Fest, please contact Barb Ruhl (610-798-9918 or barbruhl6@gmail.com). We look forward to seeing you there.
