IZAAK WALTON LEAGUE CHAPTER 67 JUNIORS Greetings from the Izaak Walton League Juniors. It s hard to believe we are a few weeks away from the end of the year. This past year has presented many new opportunities, hopefully you have participated in many of them. If you need a reminder here s a list: Held our first Winter Blues Activities Day o Learned about reloading rifle and pistol cartridges o Learned how to re-spool fishing rods o Built Blue Bird and Wood Duck Boxes o Participated in Wood Duck Challenge in Pennsylvania Outdoor News Held our first Juniors Challenge o Shot 3-D archery o Shot.22 rifles o Fishing contest at the pond over 70 fish caught in 2 hours Donated some of the caught fish to Raptor Rehabilitators Participated in conservation projects o Planted saplings along Codorus Creek with Save our Streams o Installed Blue Bird boxes

o Donated Wood Duck Boxes Participated in planting the Jacobus Community Peoples Garden o Planted potatoes, onions and vegetable seeds o Installed fencing to keep critters out o Weeded and mulched Participated in the York City event Go Green in the City for Earth Day o Sold Blue Bird Boxes o Sold perennial flowers Maintained Honey Bees o Built and painted new 8 frame hive equipment o Installed 2 new bee hives, donated by Larry Schlaline from HipBees in Dallastown National Hunting and Fishing Day o Went to Limestone Springs for an annual Fishing Trip Toured the fish farm to learn how they raise and stock trout Each kid caught and took home a nice bunch of trout fillets o Visited the Nature Center at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area to taste roast Venison, and participated in the day s events Held our annual events: o Easter Egg Hunt in the SNOW with over 30 dozen eggs o Sold food at opening day of Trout o Participated in the Annual Fishing Derby Cleaned and stocked fish o Had a camp-out on club grounds We got rained on this year so we camped in the clubhouse o Held a Halloween Party Pumpkin bowling

Lollipop ghost shootout Stomp the Ghost game Pumpkin bean bag toss Mummy wrapping contest o Held a wrapped present raffle at the Annual Christmas Party o Annual Club Picnic Games 3-D archery shoot Volleyball Casting contest

We have also done a lot of fun things during our meetings like rifle and archery shooting, learning to tie flies, fishing and taking nature hikes. Many Juniors also participate in other club activities like trout stocking, club work days, 3D archery shoots, stream monitoring, pistol fun shoots, picnics and trap shooting.

Next year we plan to do just as many fun things. Check out the items we have planned so far. The dates are subject to change so please make sure you check the Club Newsletter or our webpages for changes. Feb 7 Winter Blues Activities - 1:00 until (making blue bird boxes, duck boxes, learn about reloading, gun cleaning, etc) Feb 20 - Juniors clubhouse drywall hang and organization, 9:00 AM March 18 Easter Egg Coloring - Lower level of the clubhouse, 6PM until done March 19 - Easter Egg Hunt (hide eggs at noon, Hunt starts at 1:00) April 1 - Set-up for food sales, meet at Trout building at 7:00 April 2 Opening Day of Trout, (first Saturday after March 28) - Juniors sell food starting at 5:30 - sign up for a slot April 22 Earth Day April 23 Go Green in the City - details to come, setup around 9 start time is 10 May 7 Fishing Derby, see newsletter/flyer for details May 8 - Mother s Day June 4 Youth Field Day sponsored by York County Sportsmen for Youth June 7 - last day of school for Dallastown June tbd Camping trip July tbd Conservation Camp July tbd Juniors Challenge (fishing, archery, trap, rifle fun contests) August 28 - Club Picnic September 24 - National Hunting and Fishing Day September 25 - Juniors Fishing Trip to Limestone Springs, visit to Middle Creek October 20 set up for Halloween party if needed; 7:00 October 21 Halloween Party, 6:00 until 8:00 November 13 Shopping trip for Christmas Party, 1:00 location to be determined December 16 Decorate for Christmas Party meet in clubhouse at 1:00 December 18 Christmas Party Junior Officers President Vice President Secretary Treasurer David Bell Holly Fuhrman Wyatt Myers Bryce Boeckel Juniors Chairmen Ted and Jen Bell 717-246-5787 juniors@yorkiwla.org Mailing Address: IWLA 67 Junior Chapter 7131 Ironstone Hill Road Dallastown, PA 17313
