H A R P E R V A L L E Y H U N T I N G C L U B Harper Valley News 212 Season Recap & 213 News Volume 16 212 Hunting Results The total deer harvest from 212 was 8 bucks and 19 does. The big bucks were taken by Sty Dobbins, Scott Power, Steve Dye, Sherman Dobbins and Don Holcomb. Complete harvest results and Jawbone results listing all deer taken are included in this newsletter. 211 Big Buck Winner The winner of big buck contest for bucks killed in the 211 season was Victor Dowis 9 point buck that scored 117 3/8 B&C points. Congratulations Victor on a nice buck. 212 Gun Raffle Winner The winner of the annual gun raffle last year was Scott Power. Scott won a Browning bolt-tion. Congratulations Scott. New Board Member Dennis Castleberry was voted in to take Lamar Cantrell s position as a Board member. Thank you Lamar for your years of service on the Board. The current list of Board of Directors are: Scooter Ferguson, Scott Power, Steve Dye, Fred Merritt, Dennis Castleberry, Brian Ruggerio, Dale Green, Phillip Power and Mark Loudermilk. Dove Hunt The Dove Hunt fee for members this year will be $5 for the season and $75 for guests to hunt opening weekend. Dove season begins September 7. Meet at the clubhouse at 11: AM for opening day. Rabbit Hunters Starting this year the club will be offering a limited membership to allow rabbit hunting on club leases for $2 per person. This membership will be for people who are not full members of the club and will allow hunting on the properties after deer season. New Deer Management Rules Harper Valley Land Property: In an effort to increase the doe population on the property the following rules will begin this season. Does can only be taken by hunters 16 years old and younger, women shooting their first deer and handicap hunters. Only one does can be taken per year by these hunters. Eh member can take one buck from the Harper Valley Land Property per year. If a member takes a buck off of this property they must have it mounted in a full shoulder mount and bring it to the club the following opening day or pay the club a $3 fine. Trophy Bucks: In an effort to protect young bucks, only bucks that will score a minimum of 1 Boone and Crockett points can be taken. There will be no fine this season for taking a buck that does not measure to this minimum. Button Bucks: The club has had a $5 fine for shooting a button buck for several years. This year there will be an additional fine of $5 for shooting a button buck and not reporting it and paying the $5 fine. Any member who leaves a button buck or any non-legal buck in the woods is subject to dismissal from the club.
