Music on Main Fundraiser Results and Upcoming International Festival The Spartanburg Ski and Outing Club made $55 for the July 2 M.O.M. We had a great turnout of volunteers for the event. Thanks to everyone who braved the heat and humidity. This season we earned $955 from working the two events. The club has one more obligation this season to complete our commitment with the city. The International Festival is coming up October and the club will need to man a beer booth for the entire day. We will need folks to work 3-4 hour shifts. Sign up sheets will be available at the September Meeting or please contact me at mojonesie@aol.com. Many thanks for your continued efforts and support! Marty Page 5

Roan Mountain Weekend February 3-4, 202 It's still hot and humid outside, but it's not too soon to start planning for fall and winter events. Summer WILL come to an end! The Club has reserved eight cabins at Roan Mountain State Park this coming February. Only the older cabins will be available this season. They include: one bath, a full kitchen, one downstairs bedroom with double bed, and the loft with two twin beds. Spartanburg ski clubbers enjoyed these older cabins for years before the newer ones were built. The Park has increased the cost next season to $50/weekend night. The breakdown in rates will be: Entire Cabin $50/night (Fri and Sat) $30/night (Taylor-Thurs) Bedroom $90/night Each Loft Bed $30/night This has always been a fun weekend of skiing, hiking, or just relaxing. We have a tentative date for the Club Race on Saturday at Sugar, and there is always the Saturday night party, with beer, wine, and snacks provided. Big Rule: no pets. I will have a sign-up sheet at the September meeting at Chapman. Or, contact me: Carol Mccall mmccall@windstream.net 828-859-5500 Page 7

Part of their sponsorship package this year includes the VIP Discount Program for all CSC members. Qualifying members of a CSC club can purchase or lease a new Subaru at 2% below dealer cost minus any incentives which are currently being offered. To qualify you must have been a member of the Spartanburg Ski and Outing Club (or other CSC club) for at least 6 months. If you are interested, please notify Sam Linder of your intent to participate. Subaru will mail the VIP information to you, which will include information about local dealers participating in the program. Once you have received the information you can go to a local dealer, pick out the Subaru you want, and the dealer will pull the invoice and let the purchaser know if there are any current incentives. Please take advantage of this benefit that Crescent Racing, through Ron Scott, has secured for all CSC clubs. Page

NOTES Any Spartanburg Ski Club member may submit items for publication in the newsletter. Publication deadlines can be found on the pullout calendar included in the newsletter each month. Call Taylor for information on how to submit your newsletter item. Also, don t forget - the club has a tent available for rent. It is an 8 X 20 tent, and it is easy to assemble. We also have 4 tables that can be rented with or without the tent. We have the makings for that special occasion and it is all very reasonably priced! Tent rental is $ 35. Tables can be rented for $5 per table. Remember; don t have a party without the comfort of shade. Your guests will appreciate it and so will the club! For rentals of either tent or tables contact Joy Bobo. The Spartanburg Ski & Outing Club normally meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. We are located at the Chapman Cultural Center (West Wing) on East St. John Street in Spartanburg on the first floor. During the summer months (June, July, and August) meetings are frequently held, more informally, at different sites and times. Therefore it is necessary to consult the club web site or a current newsletter for the time and location. April s meeting is held at the Piedmont Club. The club does not provide alcoholic beverages at membership meetings, but members are allowed to bring their own (BYOB) choices of beer or wine. Over-indulgence is not condoned under any circumstances. Cups, ice, and some soft drinks are provided. Thank you.
