Minutes of AGM held on Wednesday 27 June 2016 at The Victoria Pub, Union Road, Lincoln at 7.30pm Present Andrea Hyslop, Mike Willans, Paul Woodcock, Amanda Clancy, Cherry Dowson, Jayne Diggle, Mandy Garnham, Paul Mayfield, Sandra Burgess, Nikki Baxter-Anderson. 1. Chairman s welcome and opening remarks Andrea welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked the members of the Council for all the work they have put in during the year. 2. Apologies Dave Mellor, Pete Crawshaw, Chris Smith, Sally Hassall, Wendy Parry, Gill Anderson, Nass Hassan, John Fletcher, Sue Fletcher, Helen Earley. 3. Minutes of the AGM 2015 were agreed as a true record by the committee. 4. Matters Arising None to discuss 5. Treasurer s Report - A spreadsheet showing income & expenditure for the last financial year was given out. CS was absent from the meeting however submitted this report AGM Treasurers Report Mon 27 th June 2016 Income to Expenditure Statement (see attached) Opening Balance = 5,827.43 (as of 1 st June 2015) Closing Balance = 13,871.58 (as of 31 st May 2016) Approx. 8,000 increase this year, primarily down to the following: No shuttle expenditure Shuttle sales - 1,300 Melton Mowbray Development Account paid into LBA account - 3,294 U15 Age Group has 19 players compared to U13 (13) and U17 (14) U15 Coach Expenses none claimed compared to U13 ( 972) and U17 ( 416) John Hudson Account Opening Balance = 1,496.23 (as of 1 st June 2015)

Closing Balance = 1,496.63 (as of 31 st May 2016) Recommendations for 2016 2017 These recommendations are based around the profits generated through JUNIOR income and, in my opinion, should be to: Keep junior fees at 240 Plough profits into a new set of Junior Champs Perpetual Trophies Look at greater U18 ICT subsidisation, i.e. fee reduction or free kit Consider funding players to compete on National Circuit (gifted and talented) Final thoughts I am happy to stand again this year. Andrea thanked Chris for all the work he had done with the accounts. PM stated he will need to speak with CS with regards to the U18 County fees as their sessions will finish after ICT as the players usually stop coming as they have exams. This will reduce the number of weeks that the U18 will pay and play for. 6. League Secretary s Report Cherry stated the following - Horncastle and Stamford have failed to re-affiliate to Badminton England this season so that just leaves 6 senior clubs in Lincoln, 1 in Grantham and 1 in Spalding that are now affiliated. There are 5 junior clubs that affiliate to Badminton England, Lincs Juniors, one other in Lincoln, two in Grantham and one in Brigg. I do understand there is a strong possibility of Sleaford affiliating again this coming year as they are showing interest in competing in the Newark League. The Lincs combination doubles league was very popular again and it went right to the wire with Albion, who had led from the start of the season, failing to win or draw the last match thereby handing the title to Cross O Cliff. The trophy will be presented at the Presentation Evening on 8 July. Most of the teams have confirmed again for next season and St Andrews will also let me have their decision by the end of the summer.

Seniors from Milke Willans The 2015 Senior Restricted was played at the Priory Witham Academy, where it will be played again this year from Friday 30 th September to Sunday 2 nd October. The format stayed the same again as it will do this year with the tournament being played over 3 days and all matches being best of 3 to 21. The venue worked really well with all players using a side room to store bags hence leaving the main hall nice and clear. The Results were as follows Men s Singles Winner Tom Woodcock Tommy Ip Ladies Singles Winner Chloe Sidwell Steph Tillman Men s Doubles Winners Paul Mayfield & Tommy Ip Tom Woodcock & Leo Medley Ladies Doubles Winners Chloe Sidwell & Steph Tillman Sam Allen & Jo Wressell Mixed Doubles Winners Leo Medley & Steph Tillman Ian Shaw & Andrea Hyslop Again the tournament ran very smoothly and thanks to Mandy Garnham for managing the desk. The only change that we made was to the running order

where we played both the singles finals on the Saturday instead of the Sunday. This seemed to be received fairly well so the same will happen this year with the finals being played first on the Saturday. Senior Teams This year saw the introduction of dedicated venues and weekends for all senior county matches. Our 1 st & 2 nd teams played at Catmose Leisure Centre on all 3 weekends. Both teams were in Division 4 East. 1st Team finished top out of 8, once again winning very easily. 2 nd team finished 6 th out of 8, they were very unlucky not to finish higher as a few teams brought stronger squads to the 2 nd weekend so I think we could have finished a lot higher than we did. Big thanks to the two captains Sam Allen and Paul Sturton for managing the teams over the season, especially to Paul Who had a difficult job mixing the younger players in with the experienced ones. In the forthcoming season, we will be fielding a 3 rd team this next season. The 2 nd team now becomes a full senior team with the 3 rd becoming the development team for players coming up from the junior ranks. From only having 1 senior team 3 years ago we are back to having 3. So for the divisions for next season 1 st team will play in Division 3 Central along with Derbyshire 2 Staffordshire 2 Worcestershire 2 Warwickshire 2 Norfolk 2 Nottingham shire 3 They will play their 1 st round of games at Catmose Leisure Centre then move onto the new venue in Nottingham for the next two rounds of matches. 2 nd and 3 rd teams will be in division 4 east along with Sussex 3 Essex 3

Suffolk 2 Cambridgeshire 3 Norfolk 3 At this moment in time BE are still to confirm venues. At this time I would like to thank Paul Mayfield once again for his efforts to get a senior training program together, and again with no real commitment from the players we are looking at other ways to encourage seniors to train. My efforts last year to introduce a senior kit for the teams didn t quite work as I wanted it to. A communication breakdown led to a bit of confusion on how we were able to order the kit. I m going to take another look at it this summer depending on the junior kit choice. As seniors don t order in the same amounts as the juniors it s not fair for a kit supplier to hold a large amount of stock for adult purchase. And we only want to order probably in very small numbers. I m very pleased with how the website is developing, there seems to be a lot of people looking at it, with nearly 2800 views since I put a hit counter on approx 6 months ago. If anybody has any ideas of content they would like to see on the website please contact myself or Paul Woodcock as he has now had the extensive training on how to load content. I myself will still look after any new pages and updates that we may introduce. AH thanked Mike, Paul and Paul for their help. b. Juniors From Mandy Garnham Trophies are currently being engraved ready for the Presentation Evening. The Junior Champs went well and we will look at possibly doing three games to 15 in the U13 rather than 3 games to 21. The Shires League went well and all 3 age groups finished mid table. Training was well received and had a good retention rate. The coaches met a few weeks ago and the only change for 2016-2017 is that Dave Perry will be a coach for the ICT training and not the U18 County training. There will be a separate cell for the ICT squad. Ben Garnham and Tom Woodcock will be the U18 coaches with Paul Mayfield overseeing the U16 & U18 squads. AH thanked Mandy for all her help with the organising and running of the Champs.

Masters From Cherry Dowson The O40s had a very tough season, the teams in this league are extremely strong and include England players. Unfortunately Lincs does not have the strength and depth to make much of an impact and they failed to win a single match coming bottom of the table which was won by Leicestershire. The O50 s fared much better actually coming second in their League which was won by Buckinghamshire first team. However a shortage of reliable players meant they had to concede two away games which was very disappointing. If anyone knows of any potential players for either of these age groups please encourage them to come along to County trials later in the year.

Lincs entered an O40 s team in the Inter County Challenge in January in Wolverhampton. The format of this tournament suits our County better than the League as 50% often games are mixed doubles. Lincolnshire won two, drew two and lost two putting them bang in the middle of the table ending up 4 th out of 7. Nikki managed to get a team together for every match and that was not easy. AH thanked Nikki and Gill O for all their hard work. 9. Development Officers Report No report was given 10. BE Rep Report No report was given. 11. 12. Any Other Business AH will reply to Michael N from BE stating we are not in a position to hold the strategic meeting that BE have contacted us about. The juniors are having a new kit next season, Amanda brought along some samples, the blue kit was the preferred choice. Paul M has arranged for Anthony Clarke to train with the juniors for 3 days in August and has also arranged for the coaches to spend a day with him. Tickets are still available for the Presentation Evening on 8 July. The winner of the John Hudson trophy was confirmed in the coaches meeting. Chris Smith is aware of the payee and will make a cheque payable for 100 to the junior. Andrea thanked everyone for attending the meeting. The AGM closed at 8.45 pm.
