University of Minnesota High School Cheerleading Championship SUNDAY DECEMBER 15 TH, 2013 Dear Cheer Team Advisors and Coaches: We have set a date for the 18 th Annual U OF M CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP. We hope your team will join us for all the fun and excitement on SUNDAY DECEMBER 15 TH, 2013 at Williams Arena and The Sports Pavilion on the U of M campus. This competition provides our participants with the highest quality environment in the region, including: Two facilities (One for warm up [Sports Pavilion] and one for the competition [Williams Arena]) Both gyms will have a full 54 X 42 mat Division Championship T-Shirts will be given to the first place team in all of the Varsity High School, College and Senior All Star Divisions. As well as a Grand Champion T-shirt for the highest overall score of the day in both the Senior All Star and Varsity High School Division. Williams Arena has a 13,000 seat capacity, to better accommodate your friends and family there to cheer you on! Because we want to benefit teams that compete at the Minnesota State competition AND those who compete at Nationals, the Minnesota State High School League s division breakdowns will apply with all UCA rules and regulations. A copy of the UCA rules and judging sheet can be found at www.varsity.com under the Competition heading, and the division breakdown is listed on our registration form. (Please Note: divisions may be altered so that each team is competing against an appropriate number of competitors). Team Definitions: Varsity Team- A varsity team is a group representing a school district, which assumes liability for that team. All participants must be in 7 th to 12 th grade at that school. Novice Team- A Novice team is a group representing a school district, which assumes liability for that team, and that team agrees to limit their routine by skill level to USASF level 2. Co-Ed- A Co-Ed team is a varsity group with four or more males representing a school district that assumes liability for that team. Junior Varsity- A JV team is a group that consists of non-varsity competing members representing a school district that assumes liability for that team. All team members must be in 7 th -12 th grade in this division Middle School/Jr. High- A Middle School/JR High team is a group that consists of non-high school competing members representing a school district that assumes liability for that team. Team members in this division must be in the 9 th grade and below. Elementary- An Elementary team is a group that consists of non-high school or non-middle school competing members representing a school district that assumes liability for that team. Team members in this division must be in the 6 th grade and below. Cheer Only- Combination of cheers and/or sideline chants with partner stunts, pyramids, jumps and tumbling permitted. Maximum time limit of 1 minute, 30 seconds. There is no music allowed in this division. (No squad size limitations.) Stunt Group: All Girl: 4-5 female participants. Five participant stunt groups will be judge lower than a four participant groups based on lower difficulty. Maximum time limit of a 1 minute (all music) stunt routine. Coed: 1 female, 1 male and 1 spot permitted. One minute maximum stunt routine (all music).
