LHS School Newsletter, Issue #2 September 18, 2017 Lutheran High School LHS Mascot Louie and Jr. Mascot Lil Louie The first quarter is well under way and progress reports were mailed out last week. If you are concerned about your student s grades, please contact the teacher directly via e-mail. Junior and Senior students should have also received a paper from Ms. Loughmiller regarding service hours. This week is Homecoming Week, and the students are ready to vote for their homecoming court and to show their school spirit at our homecoming volleyball game versus Ridgewood this Thursday. The homecoming court will be presented at the game, and again at the Homecoming Dance, themed Escape to Neverland this Saturday night. Next week we will hold the National Honor Society Induction ceremony and will honor our qualifying students. Parents, we have received some calls regarding carpool drop off and pick up. Please be courteous of our neighbors and do not block driveways, double park, or block the street in front of school or any of the side streets. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We are excited to announce that our online spirit apparell store opened today. The link is on our webpage and also in this newsletter. The online store will be open until October 8th, and orders will ship to the school two weeks after the store closes. We hope that your students and family will enjoy showing your Gryphon pride by sporting some of the spirit wear! In recent events, students attended their first club day, and our newest Gryphons, the Freshmen, and our experienced Gryphons, the Seniors, celebrated Senior/Freshmen week. See the inside of this newsletter to see photos of the fun at Senior/ Freshmen Week. Our seniors should be working hard to finalize college applications. In Louisiana, October is known as college application month. Our seniors know that they may schedule appointments with Mrs. Robin with questions concerning the college application process. Please mark your calendars for the Gryphon Gala on March 24th, 2018! This is the main fundraiser for our school with great food, a silent and live auction, and wonderful company. The theme this year is A Magical Evening at Hogwarts. Attached to this newsletter is an invitation to a wine tasting event to benefit our Gala. We were happy to speak with the parents that attended our first PTL meeting of the year. As always, we appreciate all of our parents and LHS families who partner with us in educating your children. The next PTL meeting will be on November 8th at 6:30 PM. We hope to see you there! Home of the Gryphons! Mark Your Calendar! Sept. 18-22: Homecoming Week! Chapel News This year s Chapel Theme is All Things New! The theme is rooted in Revelation 21: 5 and 2 Corinthians 5: 17, focusing on the regeneration, freedom and justification we receive though the work of Christ. We continued to speak about how Christ MAKES ALL THINGS NEW in chapel this month. Thank you to Mr. Dauss, Mr. Taylor, Pastor Nare (Mount Zion Lutheran Church/Faculty) and Pastor Manning (Broadmoor Community Church) for sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with the students of LHS. Chapel is every Tuesday from 9:30-10:00 am. The entire Gryphon Family is invited to join us in worship. This year's Chapel theme is: All Things New Love: Our loving God no longer sees us in our sin, but instead the Righteousness of CHRIST ALONE. Honor: The status of honor is restored to us in CHRIST ALONE. Serve: CHRIST ALONE is the perfect servant and our example.
