Implementatin The Apprved Prvider r Nminated Supervisr is respnsible fr ensuring ur service has an Emergency Management Plan (EMP) in place that has cnsidered all relevant risks, includes prcedures fr evacuatin, lckdwn, lckut and shelter-in-place, emergency respnse prcedures and drills and training schedules. We will refer t the QFES Emergency Planning Guidance as a best practice mdel and tailr the prcedures t ur Service peratins. The Apprved Prvider r Nminated Supervisr is respnsible fr: Identifying the risks and threats that culd prduce an emergency situatin. They will cnduct a risk assessment t identify ptential emergencies that culd affect ur service and use this t prepare emergency and evacuatin prcedures. An evacuatin may be necessary in the event f a fire, chemical spill, bmb scare, earthquake, siege, fld etc. Lcal emergency services will be cnsulted fr advice including lcal fire services, plice, ambulance, lcal gvernment, cmmunity leaders and ther relevant agencies. The advice will include infrmatin abut evacuatin rutes and assembly pints, and take int accunt accessibility fr adults r children with special needs. Develping the EMP which will include: Emergency cntact details fr peple wh have specific rles r respnsibilities under the EMP Cntact details fr lcal emergency services A descriptin f hw we will alert peple t an emergency- by bell (near main Kindy dr). Evacuatin prcedures including hw we will assist any child r persn with special needs A map f the service shwing the lcatin f fire equipment, emergency exits and assembly pints Prcesses t ensure staff are trained in ur emergency prcedures Prcesses we will fllw after an incident. The EMP r a summary f the EMP will be displayed (near main Kindy dr and middle Kindy dr) Ensuring that visitrs and relief staff are aware f the emergency respnse prcedures (see visitr inductin) 2

Implementing the EMP including: Disseminating infrmatin abut the EMP and the prcedures relating t emergency management and evacuatin t staff, children, visitrs and families. Families will receive written ntificatin frm the service. We will use infrmal games and discussins t familiarise children with ur evacuatin and emergency prcedures. Scheduling training fr all educatrs, staff and vlunteers. This will include ensuring educatrs are prvided with training n hw t use fire extinguishers, fire blankets and ther emergency equipment. Training may include evacuatin drills, identifying assembly pints and the lcatin f emergency equipment, first aid arrangements and hw t turn ff the electricity. All new educatrs and staff will receive training during their inductin and refresher training fr all educatrs and staff will take place at least annually. Testing the EMP every quarter Reviewing the EMP annually. Keeping recrds f all emergencies. Keeping recrds f meetings and emergency drills. Emergency Management Plan Prcedures The Apprved Prvider r Nminated Supervisr is respnsible fr implementing the attached prcedures when an emergency situatin arises (Appendix A). Cmmunicatin We will ensure we have access t reliable cmmunicatin channels in the event f an emergency by maintaining access t a telephne (such as fixed-line telephne, mbile phne) at all times. Our main telephne is lcated in the main Kindy (teacher s desk) and stre rm. If there is a lss f electricity, a backup telephne is available and always ready fr use at (main entrance t Plish hall) If there is a cmplete lss f electricity and the telephnes at the service are nt available, a mbile phne will be prvided and ready t use at all times t ensure educatrs can make emergency cntact. 3

The Department f Educatin Training and Emplyment are develping a mre streamlined, secure and free web-based prtal that will enable apprved prviders t easily advise when a service is/will be clsed (and re-pened) as a result f a natural disaster. In additin t regular platfrms, apprved prviders will be able t access this new streamlined prcess frm smart phnes and it is intended that, in the future, it will have SMS functinality. Emergency Cmmunicatin Plan We will ensure all educatrs, staff, visitrs, vlunteers and families are aware f ur emergency evacuatin prcedures thrugh: the display emergency telephne numbers prminently thrughut the service in the fllwing lcatins- near telephnes, in registry f child details flder and near first aid kits. the display f evacuatin diagrams based n ur flr plans prminently near each exit The Evacuatin Diagram will include: (main Kindy dr and middle Kindy dr) an A3 size diagram f the flr r area a title eg Evacuatin Plan the Yu are here lcatin designated exits in green cmmunicatin equipment and where installed in red hse reels, hydrants, extinguishers in red. designated shelter-in-place lcatin and assembly area. date plan validated. lcatin f assembly areas a legend. 4

Regular reminders t families via email and newsletters that we maintain a Register f emergency telephne numbers fr families and we must have current cntact infrmatin. The Register is lcated in the fllwing lcatin (sign in table) Emergency and Evacuatin Prcedures and Drills Rehearsal Evacuatin Drill (Every Three Mnths) The service will add t each child s sense f security, predictability and safety, and ensure all educatrs and staff are familiar with ur emergency evacuatin prcedures, by cnducting rehearsal evacuatin drills every three mnths. We will develp a schedule fr cnducting drills fr the different types f emergencies identified in ur EMP. The drills: will take place at varius times f the day and week (rather than always n a Tuesday at 10 am fr example) t ensure all children and staff members get the pprtunity t rehearse. All persns present at the service during the evacuatin drill must participate accrdingly. will be dcumented and assessed against specific utcmes. will be immediately fllwed by a debriefing sessin t identify any imprvements that may be made t the prcedures.
